There is a high bust potential amoung McCoy, Bradford, and Tebow but I think Clausen will pan out.

He has the best arm of those four. And he is the only one that played in anything resembling an NFL offense. Clausen will IMO be the best of these four.

Compared to the scrubs they've played over the last three years?

I don't think so.

I watched way too many N.D. games over the last three years where he just sucked - especially in crunch time.

He's a LOSER

this is just stupid. You cant blame him for every single loss they've had in the last 3 years.

And when they did, Clausen was basically just throwing moon balls and letting Tate and Floyd make plays. That wont work in the NFL

Some were fades and jump balls in the red zone, but on a lot of the bombs I saw, he hit Tate in stride. And some were in tight windows - I think he hit Tate on a long TD pass against USC that he fit between the USC CB and Mays, who got there a step late.

they only played one armed forces game and that was against navy who are pretty damn good.
Clausen also played:
usc, michigan, pitt, stanford, UNC

the stats don't lie tho. and that was with a more talented team than quinn had.

The 2005 ND team was more talented than the 2009 one. Quinn had a good number of future NFL players on offense - Fasano and Carlson were his TEs (both 2nd rounders), Ryan Harris was the LT (he's the RT with the Broncos), Sullivan was his C (starting C in Minn), LeVoir (N.E.) and Stevenson (Texans) were also on the OL and they are in the NFL. Quinn had a much better OL and running game.

As someone else pointed out, that 2009 ND defense sucked.

Klark Kent - I do think you have to wonder why ND didn't have a better record under Clausen, but I think the stats show that the defense sucked. ND had a top 5 offense in the country. What else can you do?

Without Clausen, ND would have won 2 games this year.

Who knows whether Clausen will bust? Nothing's a sure thing. But I look at 3 things for college QBs entering the NFL - (1) accuracy (the windows for throws are much tighter), (2) college experience as a starting QB, and (3) intangibles and leadership qualities. Clausen has 1 and 2. #3 is a question, but then again, it's always hard to be sure on that one, and that's the one that normally results in guys being busts (Russell, Leaf, etc).

the stats between quinn and clausen don't have a god damn thing to do with who's defense was better/worse. quinn had better stats. period.

I don't really think that Clausen is much better than Brady Quinn. Probably a stronger arm, but no more accurate. He relied a lot on just throwing deep balls and letting Golden Tate go and get them. He's the next Matt Lienert IMO. He will have a career in the NFL, but he won't be a boom or bust. Just another mediocre QB who will only do as well as the talent around him. Maybe like a Jay Fiedler or Gus Frerotte.

You sure about that? Comparing soph and jr seasons (Clausen isn't playing his sr year) -

Quinn - 60% completion rate, 6505 yards, 49 TDs, 17 Ints

Clausen - 64% completion rate, 6894 yards, 53 TDs, 21 Ints

I agree. Quinn has had 12 total starts in the NFL with the Browns and a lack of talent. If the Browns stick with him this year then a judgement can be made. 12 starts is not enough to judge.

Clausen will be a good pro too IMO

he will get the shot this year. I like Holmgren's idea. He said you can't judge a qb until they have played in at least 32 games.
