The game ended with a handshake and a mea culpa. How bad is it for Chris Ash right now? Jim Harbaugh actually apologized to the Rutgers head coach at midfield and told him he wasn't trying to run up the score in this 78-0 blowout.

"No, no I know. That's ok," Ash told the Michigan coach, according to two witnesses. Ash had bigger things to worry about than the biggest shutout loss in Rutgers history since the first Grover Cleveland administration (that's 1888). He had to worry about the fragile morale of his team.

Harbaugh could've told his players to "fall down" before getting past the 1st down marker in the 2H.

Rutgers shouldn't suck so bad. Don't feel sorry for them.

its funny that jim just kept running the ball. I think it would have been more embarrassing had he did what we did to ole miss in 11 where we get to goal line and then kneel it.

I think Jim showed some sportsmanship.

He can't make his team quit, that is just bad for everyone.

No respectable, competitive football player or coach would relent to this.

Get over yourself.

Rutgers quit. Doesn't mean Michigan should have to do the same.

Learning experience.

I've never understood this. Herb aught gets paid to make sure his team is ready to play and play well it's not his responsibility to help out the other team.

If Rutgers didn't want to get embarrassed they could have played better or just called off the game due to increment weather.

Exactly.

Per rivals, Rutgers hasn't recruited poorly. They finished 25th in '12, 44th in '13, 58th in '14, 54th in '15 and, with Chris Ash, 78th this year.

Rutgers hasn't recruited playoff-caliber athletes, but getting beaten 78-0 while only gaining 39 yards should indicate something has gone terribly wrong.

they'll point to Les's class but then if it was any other team/coach, they'll say 'well your defense should have stopped them!'

I know you like to act like you never once liked a game under Les but that kneel down was worse than scoring again and made ole miss look like bitches that year....out of every moment les fricked up that wasnt one..in fact it was epic
