It's bullshite. You don't want to pay the players? Fine, but they should be able to profit off their own name.

I agree. Also, they don't want to pay players, then they shouldn't be able to cash in on the millions from their jersey sales and likeness on video games. Drives me crazy.

I like how they removed the search engine but Bilas still got screenshots. Bastards.

Should they ? How do you police it ? Where does it end ? What do you do when a booster buys a car for a recruit in exchange for an autograph ?

That is the issue I see. Where does it end ?

Not to mention... You start paying players and all the ticket prices will shoot up through the roof.

But the NCAA is essentially telling a federal judge in the Ed O’Bannon case that Manziel and Clowney don’t exist.

i don't think that's the actual argument whatsoever

What should be "policed"?

Are you going to just ask vague questions or are you going to actually discuss this issue?

What do I care? I care more about the economic earning potential of these kids as opposed to making sure all schools get a "fair crack at a recruit.

I don't. The reason these rules are in place to begin with is because of the rampant cheating of the past.

Those "kids" will have plenty of chances to make money in the pros.

I wouldn't have a problem with policing it during the recruiting process

But the guy won the Heisman trophy based on his skill. Why shouldn't he be able to monetize off of something that has made other people rich already?

Ummm...what makes you think that this would happen?

Even for a 5 star recruit, there is no guarantee of ever making an NFL roster. Even if you are successful in college.

And even then, the average NFL career is very short unless you're a marquise player.

Apparently the site isn't owned or operated by the NCAA. Still shows that they oly selectivly enforce at least some of thier rules since other sites have been sent letters to remove the same feature.

TV revenue, merchandise, concessions. The same places it has always come from.

Whatever paltry amount that the university might pay players would amount to something negligible in the scheme of things.

Oh and you're forgetting one important thing...we aren't even fricking talking about that. We're talking about players taking it upon themselves to make money of their likeness....not the university paying them.

You're a pretty smart guy. How the frick did you ever come up with the stupid idea that ticket prices would "skyrocket" from this discussion. It's tough to imagine that you could be so fricking terrible at math.

Players should get a monthly stipend, as ROTC scholarships provide...$300-$500 per month. I don't think you give stars a lot and others little to nothing in college, but they should all get a stipend.

So you pay them all ? Women's golf ? Field Hockey? Alabama Bass Fishing Team ?

Keep in mind that most athletic departments already lose money.

Or is the NCAA supposed to pay them directly ?

there are maybe a dozen schools that could afford that the rest would start bouncing checks after a couple months
