Right.
I seriously don't even get that guy's premise. He's got some boxing experience? So do thousands of amateur boxers that we've never heard of. We wouldn't pick them to beat Mayweather either.

The point is, people are acting like he's changing from football to basketball. Like he's entering a sport he knows nothing about. Conor started in boxing and trains boxing for every single fight. That doesn't mean he'll win. The odds are stacked against him. But people are acting like he's never seen boxing gloves before.

It stems from the incredibly ignorant premise put forth by wannabe MMA meatheads that boxing and MMA are somehow very similar and a cage fighter in 6 months can use his current skill set to become a very good boxer.
They essentially believe what McGregor does is much "harder" than boxing.

Boxing is different from MMA on a fundamental, foundational level. They are highly technical sports which require incredibly different skill sets.
Lebron James has a far better chance of walking onto the Browns and being good NFL tight end than McGregor has of even competing with Mayweather. Pure athleticism gets you essentially nowhere in such technical sports.

No argument there. I don't think he stands much of a chance.
Back to a previous question, what is a glorified cage fighter?

How about an amateur golfer winning the masters? Instead of that retarded comparison

There are definitely some retarded analogies out there.

An amateur golfer has never won the Masters
And calling McGregor an amateur boxer is generous. He has amateur EXPERIENCE. Amateur golfers train every day to be professional golfers. McGregor trains to be an MMA fighter.
Even the boxing skillset used in MMA is different than that in professional boxing.

Never been hit with MMA gloves, but I did get hit in the face tonight by a guy wearing ProMex boxing gloves when I was sparring. That shite hurts! A competition-grade boxing glove is a lot harder than people think, but I can definitely see how MMA gloves would hurt more.
I'm at least hopeful that Floyd destroying Connor will bring some popularity back to boxing. I like MMA, but would also like to see a revival of interest in boxing.

I'm definitely not arguing that getting hit with boxing gloves is a walk in the park. But the nitwit arguing that you have more KO power with boxing gloves than MMA gloves is delusional.
regular wooden bat vs wooden bat wrapped in padding
Nitwit is saying he would rather get hit with the regular wooden bat because the padded bat has more mass.

I would like to see a sports science study on this.
Posted on 6/14/17 at 11:08 pm to lsucoonass
They did one. I posted a link. It's not much but it's the best we've got so far.
bare knuckle > MMA gloves > boxing gloves
It makes perfect sense. The less padding between the weapon (knuckles) and the target (face), the more power generated.

The almighty Bas Rutten was the striker.

I'd rather take a punch than a liver kick from him

Lsu480, how about you bet me straight up on this fight.
It is 100% free money but nobody is about to take out a loan or cash in a 401 just to win any significant amount of money. If you'd like then I'll post a $100 bet slip the night of the fight and take my free 4 or 5 dollars. Other than that you sound like a retard asking people to put thousands on a boxing match.

It's bizarre how random your lash outs seem to be. i haven't figured you out yet but it's either a small dick or some seriously submerged homosexualiaty

How much rent do I owe for the space in your head? I don't know your post history or ever remember anything you've written on here but you know me well. I'm flattered honestly.
Eta: 27,000+ posts is possibly the problem. Might want to consider a life outside of TD.
