Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor have a date in mind for their megafight in Las Vegas: Aug. 26.

Mayweather Promotions plans to request the date from the Nevada State Athletic Commission for the much-anticipated boxing match between Mayweather, the former longtime pound-for-pound king and heavy favorite who plans to exit a 23-month retirement for the bout, and UFC superstar Conor McGregor, a source with knowledge of the plan told ESPN on Monday.

Not sure how I feel about this fight. If I wanted to watch a black man run from an Irish dude, I'd watch an episode of Boston Cops.

Will not watch. Wasted the last $100 I ever will on Mayweather a couple years ago.

This will never happen sadly.

All a publicity stunt.

Mayweather will destroy McGregor in boxing.

McGregor would destroy Mayweather in MMA.

This is so stupid.

Intriguing, but no way I'm paying for that.

Agreed, but people will still eat it up. Maybe it'll start a new trend of boxers to MMA and vice versa.

Not if it is completely lopsided.

Forgot where I read this (I think Yahoo sports), but a boxing analyst was talking about how Mayweather's sparring partners would destroy McGregor in a ring, much less Mayweather himself.

Now, it will be hilarious if McGregor reverts back to MMA instinct and swings a heel at Mayweather's head mid-fight or arm bars him

Yeah, I don't get it. No one has ever mapped out the rules.

Is this like Hulk Hogan fighting Rocky?

No way Mayweather allows MMA rules, the fight would be over in 30 seconds.

And if its just boxing, well McGregor isn't a professional boxer.

Hey, I'm not a professional boxer, maybe Mayweather will fight me for $100 million.

Mayweather doesn't have to run from McGregor.

McGregor would have great difficulty with a boxing prospect, and virtually no chance vs anyone ranked in the top 100.

I'm probably the biggest anti Mayweather guy alive (Oscar won their fight BTW) but he's going to absolutely embarrass McGregor.

Floyd is probably the hardest fighter to get a clean hit on in history. I don't blame McGregor for the payday. Hell I'd fight him myself, torn back disc and all for what he's going to make but he's going to get clowned.

He's got one shot and that's too bully Floyd into a corner and hope to land a lucky shot.

MMA guys, how is his speed?

Great for mma fighter. Average for a smallish boxer.
Connor's #1 asset is mental advantage. He clearly gets in peoples head. Can he do that to Floyd? Doubtful.
His #2 asset is the accuracy in his left hand. He hits exactly where he wants, from multiple angles, with surprising power. IF he got it in clean on Floyd, he could hurt him. Thats a really big if, though.

Then I don't get it. What's the interest?

Why is this going forward? Is the public that dumb to buy this?

Where's the hype for a Mexican football team team playing the Patriots in the North American Championship?

Biggest MMA star vs biggest boxing star. It's not hard to understand.

If it doesn't interest you, move on.

NFL Preseason week 3 > Mayweather-McGregor. I'll jump on twitter around midnight to see if McGregor actually won a round. No interest in this trash.

90% of the sales will be from UFC fans who think McGregor will by via KO in 3 seconds.

So what?

Mayweather is one of the greatest boxers of all-time...

And they're fighting under boxing rules?

It's absurd. Is this for like the 18-22 crowd who thinks MMA fighters have the boxing skills of elite boxers?

Because people with a brain won't be buying this hogwash.
