He's been worse offensively than I thought, didn't think he'd be shooting sub 30% from 3. Defensively he's been impressive, moreso than I thought.

That being said -- I think Pop knows that you need more talent (and cheap young talent) to build around or you get into the situation Dallas was in when they got Luka.

This is obvious. You don’t win with 1 star rookie. The team has no PG. It’s pretty clear what is lacking.

I’m a Chet guy, not inferring one is better than the other. But the age matters. Imagine Wemby playing at Gonzaga right, bc that’s what Chet was doing at 19

hardly pay attention to the NBA and basketball as a whole, but as a casual the media and nba people definitely pumped him up to be a Lebron James type prospect with even crazier measurables.

I haven’t really heard shite about him so I guess he isn’t lighting the league on fire or anything
He's been at least as good as rookie Lebron.

Wemby is doing great for a rook. He's on a terrible team, and he's having ups and downs. More ups though.. It's his first year. He's on a good track.

I come to perhaps learn something

As a spurs fan i thought we’d be a play-in contender (how much is that to ask for ) but it was clear early on they’re content to suck another year or two. Outside of Wemby, Johnson, Vassell and Sochan it’s a bunch of misfit toys with very little post depth. They need shooters and a PG. i imagine they’ll listen to offers for guys like Osman and McDermott which will only increase the need for shooters.

He’s definitely more raw offensively than I expected but the Spurs are pretty brutal especially on that end.. He’s going to win multiple DPOY.

Rookie LeBron more than doubled his teams win total from the previous seasonz and did so back in a much tougher and mature NBA. It was a still a mans game back in the early 2000s.

He’s honestly a solid player, but the Spurs have both a bottom 5 coach and roster in the league.

You are right on point, bad93ex.

The Spurs haven't made the playoffs in the last five years. I am not sure why Popovich continued to coach, before they were fortunate enough to pick Victor W.

I thought Pop needed to sail off into the sunset either two years ago or certainly following last season. Under his leadership (?) in recent years, the Spurs have become the patsies of the NBA. They are in a class by themselves as the worst team.

Those of us who followed the Dallas Mavericks recall that less than impressive rookie year of Dirk Nowitski. This could be what Victor W. is experiencing and of course, he's not getting decent coaching.

Popovich did plenty of winning before and unless things change, he is tarnishing his image. He should do himself, Spurs fans and NBA fans in general a favor and call it quits as soon as possible.

But I am sure he's convinced with this generational type player, he can coach the Spurs to more titles down the road. He's delusional about that. The sooner he calls it quits, the better.

Wemby has been good on a bad team and he's just a rookie. His ceiling is insane.

I'm a Chet guy though. He has it all *right now* and is smooth as butter. Wemby just has a higher ceiling cause his 7'4 frame and ridiculous 8 foot wingspan.

Chet Holmgren has been better so far, although he's in a significantly better situation so probably not a fair comparison

Lets look at it a different way:

Chet is in an existing good team and has to learn to share ball and work withn a system where Shai is the star but all starters are good. This will limit his chances to pad stats yet he is getting them.

Wemby is on a bad team where he does not need fo share as much and is the star. So he can go out and get as many stats as he wants which pads his numbers in comparison. He has the team catering to him which allows more stats.

Not to say who is better but trying to show how comparing these 2 and their stats is not a level playing field. If Chet is putting up equal or close numbers I’d give him the clear edge due to situation.
