Thats just not true at all. People are drawn to a historical franchise that was loaded with HOF players right before they moved. The 1956 team had 7 HOFers.

I once heard an episode in the 1950s sci-fi radio series X Minus One that was set in Brooklyn in the year 2056. At one point a character makes a reference to seeing the Dodgers play at "Robinson Field".

It's a different scenario but there is still a huge fanbase of "LA Raider fans" who clamor for the team to come back...and the merchandise of course sells like crazy to street culture in LA.

It was a revered franchise that moved across the country at its height of popularity and success.

Brooklyn merchandise will still be sold when the Dodgers celebrate their 100th year in LA.

My father was a huge Milwaukee Braves fan. He told me stories of Hank, Eddie Matthews, Warren Spahn, Johnny Sain, a young kid named Joe Torre, etc.

the oilers really arent a bad example if you are only really taking into account the local population. there still seems to be a lot of people in houston who dont like the texans just because they arent the oilers

The Dodgers are not defunct, which makes the Brooklyn thing more so.

People still talk about the NY Giants also.

I would say the Spirit of St Louis is the correct answer.

they do, but not nearly as much as some other examples here like the whalers and the sonic and definitely not as much as the dodgers

not really. they get a special note in the history of sport but they havent had the same effect that some of these other franchises have

Gotta go with Brooklyn as #1 But when Art Modell moved the Browns to Baltimore. That was BAD... Yes the Browns are in Cleveland, But its not close to the same... The Dawg Pound at old Municipal Stadium on Lake Erie was a great place for a game and theBrowns were SOOOOO Loved by the fans.... Its just not the same anymore........

But the Dodgers are not defunct, so your premise or question is worded wrong.

That is why I said the Spirit.

Now if you had said former team home...you would be correct.
