A feat can be a record, silly

The all time home run record is itself a feat.

The HR record can be beaten.

The Triple Crown can only be matched.

Favre's record is crazy. I think Ripken's has that prestige because he broke a legendary record. People still remember Wally Pipp from 1925.

You are not incorrect.

That wasn't what I was arguing, though.

A feat can be a record, and all records are feats, but all feats aren't records. The triple crown is not a record.

You have persuaded me. I withdraw my Triple Crown assertion

I hold fast to Petty's 200 wins and his tie with The Intimidator for 7 titles, though.

Uhh he's tied with someone and that's the most impressive? There are a lot of records where no one is even close.

No one has EVER scored 200 points in a season, except for Wayne Gretzky. And he did it FOUR times. I don't know shite about hockey but I understand that is incredible

In TITLES. That in and of itself is remarkable. Do you know how many multi-championship drivers are in NASCAR's top series? That's a damn short list.

And no one is even close to Petty's 200 wins. David Pearson is second.....with 105.

Jeff Gordon is third....with 88.

Hell, while we're on the subject, throw in Jimmie Johnson's 5 consecutive titles from 2006 to 2010 as an impressive record in and of itself.

Before that, the most anyone had ever won in a row was three (Cale Yarborough).

Before we do anything else we need to decide what the words "sports" and "record" mean. This is linguistic anarchy!

I believe we have finally threshed out the meaning of "record."

The floor is still open for discussion on "sports," although Kafka's contributions have been reviewed and rejected out of hand

Thats not even the best record in its own sport.

MJ's 6 NBA Finals MVP's >>>> Wilt's 100 point game

Regardless of the form of the record, Wilt is always in his own special place. He's sui generis. It's always apples to oranges if Wilt is the apple.

Wilt's 100 point game is one of the most noteworthy sports accomplishments of all time, not even just in basketball.

And then you said it wasn't the best in his sport.

Genro, you're trolling me again, aren't you?
