A great defender is good but his is no Ben Wallace.

he's a potential all-time rim protector, which is more valuable today than ever before

UNC's had better pro players until about 2000. First the Stack/Wallace class and then Carter/Jamison, not to mention Jordan, Worthy, etc. They have had a surprisingly long streak of duds since then. Basically one good pro, one good rotation player, and one acceptable rotation player out of two championship teams. The Elite 8 squad is looking weak, too.

I guess I touched a nerve. Sorry.

I noticed you didn't say anything about the Duke players drafted and what they have done since 200 though.

Apparently Parker wants Milwaukee since it is close to Chicago. I don't get it.

I don't get that as well. If Cleveland takes Parker, he would have a better chance of having a good career than in Milwaukee.

I like the Melo comparison that some have compared him to... which is pretty a damn good ceiling. I don't think he becomes the type of player that one can expect to put a team on his back and carry to a championship but that's why it's a team game.

Not at all. It's just a really easy thing to refute. As for the Duke pros, there are certainly busts (Nolan Smith, Shelden, probably Rivers), but it's been a solid group. Lots of guys who outperformed their draft position (Plumlee 1, Plumlee 2, Boozer, probably Kelly, hell even McRoberts), couple of All-Stars in Kyrie, Boozer (double counting, I know) and Deng, solid pros like Redick, Battier, Singler, and Henderson.

I'm more disappointed that we couldn't get out of the Sweet 16 with these guys than anything else.

Embiid is a reach at best from what I have seen. But they all are.

If not for the broken foot he'd be a lock at #1.

I have often wondered why Duke didn't win more titles with the Talent they have had every year. Kinda strange.

I bet if the rockets ever with anything, Harden's FG% will be in the 47-48 range and his field goal attempts will be 4-5 shots lower per game than what he's been the last 2 years.

I personally hate Duke, but Parker is the best player in this draft. A guy over on SI.com had a great article about why Parker is the best player in this draft and pretty much dismissed all of the nitpicking surrounding him as being such.

That's why Melo makes sense. We do need another scoring option. I love Parsons but he, like Batum, is a complementary player who can get you 14-16 points but isn't a legit #2-#3 option. Another scorer would help James take that next step, IMO.

Ok.But can they do this at the next level? He is a great player but not sure he is worth a #1.
