re: Is Jabari Parker just another volume scorer?

The names on the list are supposed to be linked to their perception coming out of college(high stock guys) to what they have become in the NBA. Is that really that hard to connect?
FWIW, I understood what you meant. And to answer, IMO, he has more to his game than scoring. Seems to do a lil of everything. Also, I don't believe he's been hyped to the extent that those on your list were. (At least not as of late)

ea. I mean maybe Carmelo doesn't belong, but he's never really won anything. He can't carry a team like say, Lebron or even Durant, who are more efficient, well rounded players.
So he isnt a top 2 player.... OH NO!!!
Posted on 6/26/14 at 9:51 pm to jg8623
Yet he makes $2m more than LBJ and $4m more than Durant
He's a me first black hole who's teams haven't done shite

If only he could have played his entire career in the East.... or with two other All-Stars and future Hall of Famers in their primes.

If only he didn't force his way to New York after failing to win anything on the many good teams he had in Denver

Thought LE was getting owned on the early Harden part of this thread but he comes back with a late round knockout on Sunnydaze.

Harden is the only one I would disagree with you about, simply because he HAS to be the volume scorer on his team. Since he's been a Rocket there hasn't been any other true scorers around him, other than Parsons (who has been quietly amazing the past two years), so he has to take the mid to deep shots by himself for the most part leaving the post to Howard.
Harden has also been pretty consistent in seasonal play and post seasonal play, he doesn't drop in any stat line by much at all. The losses can be easily explained by that he honestly doesn't have enough help around him. You can't win with only 3 players playing at playoff level and Harden isn't good enough to be a Superstar that wins games by himself ala Kobe, Durant, James. And the Rocket bench? Well, it's honestly not bad at all. It's just very under utilized. Looking at the MPG of Parsons, Howard, and Harden is kind of shocking. They all play pretty much the entire game, which bottlenecks substitutions dramatically. That's a coaching problem that should be explored.
That said; all of the Rockets' losses in the past two playoff seasons, with one exception, were all extraordinarily close games. I believe they will be infinitely better next season.
Side note: I think the guy being mad at you for putting Harden on your list is because you also tagged him as:
which is simply untrue.

I ain't reading six pages of this shite. That being said,
Beasley. Harden. Barnes.
Not volume scorers in college.
Beasley was just sick and did everything. If he wouldn't have been a pothead and a headcase he would have been great.
Harden was deferential. Had the talent, didn't have the will to demand the rock in college.
Barnes was passive. Lot of talent. Didn't have hustle.
So basically you're asking if Parker has hustle. I dunno. So-so. Cop out answer for sure.

While I don't see the comparison, that isn't exactly saying he's the next LeBron James though.

Alright, since you're not gonna read, and i like you, ill go over this again.
I didn't call them volume scorers in college. The main thing about college that i pointed out is that they were all highly rated, and drafted early in the draft.
Once drafted, they went the way of being volume scorers.
Jabari Parker wasn't a volume scorer at Duke either, by definition. But the NBA tends to humble you. He's not going to score with the same ease as he did in college.
The relation to the others guys, is he going to dominate college, be a high pick, and then turn into that? Does he have any other discernible skills to make him more valuable then say, Rudy Gay?

you think Lebron would have only scored 17ppg in ACC games? lol
Posted on 6/27/14 at 10:11 am to papz
so what exactly does his post mean to you?
Posted on 6/27/14 at 10:16 am to Lester Earl
He's trying to call Parker a rare talent, which I agree with, but he made a bad comparison. I mean I already said I didn't see the comparison which made your response confusing.
LeBron scored 20ppg as a rookie in the NBA. It would be kind of stupid to think he would only score 17 ppg in the ACC.
