I mean honestly WHAT would you have to do to get fired one week before the season starts??

Embarrass a big shot.

I don't know who the big shot was, or what it takes for him to be embarrassed, but that's the surest way to incur the wrath, and no context or circumstance will protect you if the big shot is big enough or the embarrassment is embarrassing enough.

A close number two would be costing unexpected serious money, and the medical thing sounds like it fits right there.

I wonder if Brock Spack at Illinois State gets considered. He has done a remarkable job there and has big ten ties from his time at Purdue.

I'd bet on a retread coach though.

I wouldn't be upset. Wont take them too high, but better than Beckman or Zook.

My money is on Greg Schiano

My neck of the woods is a mixture of every Illinois school. Orange Krush was very impressive during the Dee Brown era though.

The shitty football program definitely had an influence in my decision not to attend U of I. Who wants to go to that shitty stadium to see that shitty team?

Great university and great tradition.

This may be true, but Champaign, Illinois is a shite hole. Most depressing place ever. (before anyone starts shite with me, I grew up in Hoopeston, IL and spent ton of time in Champaign, moved away and never looked back). plus, the facilities on campus blows. I am trying to figure out how in the sam hell their golf team does well (could be their coach who was a former PGA Tour player).

That's your problem. A lot of emptiness and shite hole little towns, but tons of great.

Politics are corrupt as hell, but Chicago is legit.

Nope, mothers side from Arlington Hts, been to Chi Town many times as well. My parents bolted to Lexington. Ask my parents if they miss Illinois, they always say no, they don't miss the shitty weather, the high taxes, and the corrupt politicians. The area as a whole sucks...I went to Purdue for a year (talk about a depressing place). Best thing for me and my family was going to UK for my undergrad and LSU for grad work.

My point, Champaign as a town blows, the campus blows, the facilities for athletics blows, and the weather certainly blows. I can see why any kid in the area bolt for Mich State, Mich, Ohio State, or to a SEC school.

I went to school with Thad Matta, he was a Cornjerker.

I know a few families in Hoopeston. They love it, yet they are well off. Personally outside of UIUC Champaign-Urbana sucks. Bloomington Normal is much better in the central Illinois area.
