I've been to Champaign and it is a nice college town but in the middle of corn fields and not much else, but seriously as a college town it is pretty good.

It is a mystery on why Illinois hasn't been relevant in football since Red Grange. They have no tradition after Red Grange left. Butkus never led them to any glory and Jeff George never led them to any national title.

Lou Henson had a good run before Bill Self got there. Henson had one of the most athletic teams I can recall in college basketball with Marcus Liberty, Kenny Battle, Nick Anderson, and Kendall Gill. As far as the men's basketball program now Illinois won't hire a coach that has good relationships with high school and AAU coaches in Chicago. Chicago might have the best basketball scene in the country. It makes no sense why Illinois won't tap into that.

They will not have a coach as good as Zook anytime soon. Dumb move ever firing him.

He was likely gone this season anyways. Cubit will be a solid 1 year interim. PJ Fleck and Justin Fuente are names to watch at the end of the year.

I would think Jeff Brohm might be on their short list too. Someone like Illinois who doesn't get the talent that teams like OSU, Michigan, MSU, etc... have needs a system to create an identity (think TT under Leach). Maybe someone like Brohm could bring in an offensive system that could overcome the talent deficiency.

Same here. The stories of the Flyin' Illini make me wish I could've enjoyed those days.

I don't know a ton about Illinois football, but I remember Simeon Rice. He was good.

Renovate your stadium a bit and now you're dogging others?

While small, I think Illinois has a pretty nice looking stadium.

Weird that on an LSU website only one person pointed out that this statement is false
