Getting into the state of Ohio for recruiting alone would have been huge
WVU recruits just fine in Ohio, and I don't agree that adding Cinci would open up a huge Ohio pipeline to Big 12 schools.

Geno Aureima (SP?) has been recently answering questions from alumni about the concerns over the competition level in the AAC for basketball. He actually blew up about it on a radio interview. Sooner or later, the premier schools in the AAC like already mentioned, are going to be looking for greener fields. While the top half of the AAC is solid, the bottom is downright awful.

So you are telling me that schools like Iowa St and Kansas wouldnt mind opening up new areas to recruit other than Texas? Ohio has great high school football talent...Cincinnati in particular!

I think you've got your head in the sand a bit about Cincy. There is a lot of talk about Big 12 expansion and the top two candidates are BYU and Cincy. Would make sense to get another school out east, and BYU is a no brainer. This is the talk I hear quite a bit here in OKC

How do you know? Look at how good the MAC is in certain years...like this year. Toledo, Bowling Green and Ohio are all really good football teams with tons of kids from Ohio. I bet some of those kids would have liked to have gotten an offer from a P5 school. Conversely, i bet Kansas and Iowa State would probably like to have a couple of those kids.

I agree it would be beneficial to expand the talent pool... Kansas' problem though is they are a basketball school thru and thru, and have a terruble stadium. ISU though has some potential in my opinion. They seem to care about football, and have a decent stadium, just don't have good recruiting grounds and absolutely no history.

Geno would do what he's doing in any conference. He owns that sport
Yes a team in Ohio increases Big XII exposure for every recruit there. they'll see Cincy become P5 and take them more seriously. we always use this argument about the SEC and Texas A&M, the Big XII and Tulane, they want the Louisiana recruits.

The P5 conferences will raid the AAC. The AAC will raid CUSA. CUSA will raid the MAC and Sunbelt.
Then the MAC and Sunbelt raid FCS. NDSU and Illinois State to FBS?!

Illinois St is not moving up and neither is NDSU.
The Redbirds are sitting way pretty in the Valley.

A certain segment of the fan base wants NDSU to join the MWC, but I don't see that happening.

Of course they want to, but they shouldn't and the admin there knows they should not.

I would much rather have WVU in our conference than Cincinatti

what's going to happen? You actually think Texas is going to go independent? You think theyll drop the LHN and join another conference? I highly doubt it. The argument is whether or not adding cincy would have been better for the big 12 than WVU and I think it would, at the bare minimum, be a wash
Even if the Big12 expands, which I doubt they do, it does nothing for the GOR. Texas is not going to allow it to be extended past the current contract. If the LHN doesn't improve ESPN will drop at the end of the contract and then 4 Big12 teams will head west and the rest will be left scrambling for homes. The American will be the best landing spot for those left out of the BIG, SEC, and ACC. The American might have lesser teams but those teams are in areas with a lot larger population for tv rights and recruiting.

I have read several rumors of the top FCS schools and maybe even a whole conference like the Big Sky might try and move up. Apparently they are afraid of losing the $$$ from the P5 conferences not scheduling FCS schools and they are also tired of losing money on the FCS playoffs.

WVU is 45mins from Pittsburgh and is part of the Pittsburgh tv market.
You serious clark? Downtown Pittsburgh to donwtown Morgantown is like 75+ miles.

I don't think Cincy will ever be in the Big 12. They are not the most popular team even in Cincy. It's Ohio State. And in Northern Kentucky you have Kentucky fans. Plus I bet there are more Notre Dame fans in Ohio and more Michigan fans in all of Ohio than Cincy fans.

I think CSU is making a push to get into the Big XII with BYU. Look at the Rammies stadium project.
