The AAC is having the best year of its existence in football. Many of the teams at the top (not counting UCF which is in dead last) have been talked about as potential expansion candidates for the last few years. With Cincinnati's win over Miami last night, i couldnt help but notice with the upgraded facilties and fan support, how they arent in a P5 conference, and they are middle of the pack this year in the AAC? If the AAC has continued success this year, will conferences like the Big 12 look to finally add some of these schools, or is conference realignment dead?

Current overall standings by wins:

Memphis 4-0
Houston 3-0
Temple 3-0
Navy 3-0
Cincinnati 3-2
Tulsa 2-1
Uconn 2-2
East Carolina 2-2
South Florida 1-2
Tulane 1-2
SMU 1-3
UCF 0-4....SHOCKING!

The AAC is basically the old Metro nowadays, without SLU, U of L, and Virginia Tech.

It's better than the old Big East football conference.
The reason Miami sucks now is they actually have to play a decent ACC schedule.

Umm no, but good try.

There are schools such as FAU FIU taking the talent away. They were "hit" by the NCAA, and they made horrible recruiting decisions.

And the two schools are what, 2-6 combined?

"We'll groan, groan, groan for FAU
There's football in paradise
We'll groan, groan, groan for FAU
Our football team it sucks, but the weather's mighty nice"

Anyone want to explain why the B12 doesn't add Cincy?

Much better addition than West Virginia

?

In what way is it not?

Fiscally Cincy would do much more for the Big12 than desolate WVU

Until the tv deals are over. Then the Big12 will get split up and the ACC wil take a few AAC schools and then the others regroup. We end up with 4 16 team powerconferences and 4 16 weaker conferences. What the names of those weaker conferences are who knows.

You really do not understand that concept do you?

The guys that were walk-ons at Miami and built the depth are now getting schollies at FIU, FAU, USF etc. The addition of those schools are what caused the decline of the Florida schools.

Your Varsity team is as only as good as your scout team is.

The P5 conferences will raid the AAC. The AAC will raid CUSA. CUSA will raid the MAC and Sunbelt.

I think Cincy will be left out as always. They missed on the ACC, they missed on the Big XII. The school is big in terms of enrollment but seems to be a "small" regional/city school when it comes for addition and not many more viewers or advertising chances.

Columbus, Cleveland, Cincy markets trump the Pittsburgh market.
