The guy played with a bad elbow, plantar fasciitis, and runs like his feet have 50lbs of concrete on them.

And then you age, with those nagging injuries and it just doesn't bode well.

Se Tiger Woods, Canseco, McGuire, etc......your body falls apart when you come off of the juice.

Yea, I'll take ARod over Pujols. Elite defense at a premium position pushes him ahead

Fact is, he would still be the best 1B on the Cardinals and over the last 5 years as well.

Bonds actually doubles Griffey's career WAR. That is just a massive gap.

That ball he hit against Brad Lidge in the NLCS still hasn't landed

He wasn't even bashing him. All he said was he was glad the Angels signed him.

You can't reason with some of the retards on here. And arguing with them, makes you feel dirty, it's like waiting for kids to get off the short yellow and beating them up.

Dude has been very serviceable as he has aged. He is not at his peak but he has still been very productive

Yep. His real problem is that he wanted to get crazy money despite having plantar fasciitis and seriously slowing down as a result. Which meant he had to go to the AL to DH. And he got stuck in Anaheim for his troubles. He now plays for a team no one cares about or watches because they're on the west coast and that can't get its shite together in a city that could take or leave any sports franchise, let alone one that claims Anaheim when the LA Dodgers are just down the road.

Imagine if he played for the Red Sox or the Yankees instead. He wouldn't have Trout, but for years he'd have had Papi and the platoon in Boston. And he'd be on a team that's even more popular than his previous perennial powerhouse team, the Cardinals. He's no longer in the public consciousness because he's in a city where the best player in baseball is hiding in plain sight. It's like Anaheim has a damn Invisibility Cloak wrapped around it. That Trout isn't on every kid's lunch box is bonkers.

Pujols came into the league as an outfielder his first year in the bigs and played some third base. He got camped at 1st because of his plantar fasciitis. He was a pretty athletic guy and he's the size of a damn house.

admittingly Griffey didn't do much either

Because Griffey barely played in the playoffs through no fault of his own. The mariners only made the playoffs twice his entire career. The reds never did. His only other taste of the playoffs were when he played in Chicago at the end of the 2008 season. In 1995, he did hit 5 homerun in a 5 game series against the yankees. He also scored the winning run to beat them in game 5, which seems to be all you remember about that series. Griffey dominated that entire series.

He didn't move to 1B until 2004 when Martinez was no longer playing there. So he was in LF his first 3 years. He was serviceable there, but he became pretty damn good at 1B over time.

Pretty sure I also stated the Mariners didn't have any pitching behind Johnson then. I wasn't blaming Griffey. Back in 1995 the MLB playoffs was on some weird TV deal, so we got other games on TV here. I wish he wasn't so eager to get out of Seattle. Those 2000 and 2001 teams were really good. And had pitching depth too.
