Griffin - Higher percentage completions, more yards, more TD's, and fewer picks than Luck. And you think Luck is better because?????

2001 Crouch over Grossman

As much as I disliked that Nebraska team for keeping Oregon out of the national championship game, I was okay with Crouch winning the Heisman. I would have voted Joey Harrington, but I am pretty biased. Crouch was their whole team and it showed the following year.

Though I do think the selection looks worse in retrospect, as MAnning has become one of the greatest QB's ever.
Right, and Woodson has sucked as a pro.

There have been no real robberies imo. It is a moving target that is awarded to whomever the media decide to fall in love with in late November/early December. Some years it is the award given to the “best player in college football,” some years it goes to the QB of the best team in college football, some years it goes to someone who had a great 4 years and needs to be rewarded for such a great career, some years it goes to the “most exciting player in college football,” some years it goes to the best RB in college football, some years it needs to go to a defensive player because it’s never been done before, etc.

Just the way it is. It is a great thing to talk about and a nice "bragging right" for schools but I don't think you can say it's ever been messed up, as the criteria is determined year to year.

Did anyone mention Beban?

5 Biggest Heisman Voting Mistakes

1. 1967 UCLA QB Gary Beban over USC RB O.J. Simpson
One of the all-time blunders, Beban won for having a great 1966 and a nice career. Simpson ran for 1,543 rushing yards and scored 16 touchdowns while beating Beban's UCLA on the way to the national title. The voters made amends the next year by making Simpson one of the biggest landslide winners ever.

Should have been his Heisman moment when #1 UCLA met #2 USC (Coach's Poll) in the game of the century... Run to Daylight

Woodson was absolutely more deserving than manning. Crouch deserved it as well.

Nah Bert Jones finished 4th and Johnny Rodgers was clearly the best player in CFB that year.

They were looking for any excuse to not give it to Manning. For some reason that year, there was this general idea that kick returns were super important. Its why Howard won the Super Bowl MVP over Favre earlier that year. Sometimes they look to get away from giving QB's everything.

Johnny Rodgers, Nebraska, won in 72 - Jones came in fourth. It's hard to say Rodgers wasn't deserving.

In 61 Terry Baker of Oregon State edged out Jerry Stovall - that must be what you were thinking.

I disagree, woodson was very worthy that year. I don't get why this year is so controversial. Manning was great but was he so much better than Ryan Leaf or Cade Mcnown that year?

Mcnown finished first nationally in pass efficiency in 1997 168.6, at the time the 12th highest rating in NCAA history.

Heck, I think Randy Moss had a great argument that year.
