? I think Ricky Williams was one of the few times when a rb was actually the best player in college football

Hmmm, must disagree, Wuerffel torn up every defense he encountered. 39 TD's and a National Championship that year.

Yeah. Ricky was about as BEAST as you can get on the field. He broke the NCAA Division I-A career rushing touchdowns and career scoring records in 1998 with 73 and 452 respectively and rushed for 200 or more yards in twelve different games (an NCAA record he shares with Dayne and USC's Marcus Allen)
How can anyone disagree with Ricky Williams and Danny Wuerffel? Are yall somehow letting their pro careers influence your opinions.

So many do this and its ridiculous. Its a college award but so often pro potential is brought into the argument or used when looking back at certain years(wuerffel for example) The NFL should have no bearing on this but some people just don't get that.

In addition to those mentioned 1975 generated some controversy. Griffin winning his second over Chuck Muncie and others.

Spot on.
Anthony Davis or a host of other players should have won it.

Doug Flutie over Keith Byars. One pass against Miami propelled Flutie to the Heisman.
Byars was the preseason favorite to win the Heisman the next yeat but a broken bone in his foot sidelined him for nearly the entire season.

M. Leinart was a great player at USC, but in 04, I thought A. Peterson should've gotten the nod that year.

Seriously? He was a pretty dominant QB and had a ridiculous career and 1996 season. Just out of curiosity who of the other finalists should have won? Troy Davis, Jake Plummer, Orlando Pace or Warrick Dunn?

Troy Smith over about half of college football

i absolutely cannot understand anyone in this thread saying richardson. if you're gonna pick a running back that shoulda won this year, you're wrong, but at least pick the right one.

If the Heisman voting was after Bowl games, Tebow probably wins his second in 2008. He did receive the most 1st place votes that year.

Ingram over Suh, Tebow over McFadden, Smith over McFadden, Leinart over Peterson, White over Fitzgerald.
