Portland can't get close to $60 mil without a S&T, if Toronto really offers this then he's all theirs.

So I doubt he pays American income taxes since he is not a citizen of the US.

The CBA is provisions in place to lessen the tax difference for players going to Toronto, so it wouldn't be a significant difference.

Yeah, I remember hearing this from my Canadian friend back when McGrady was testing free agency. He was hoping that McGrady would stay in Toronto, and this was one of the reasons he brought up which would help out the Raptors. Ultimately he signed with Orlando, which is one of the most desirable teams in the country because of Florida's extremely low (or non-existent) state taxes.

Hedo will be paying taxes either to the Canada or the US, but if I remember everything correctly, he won't end up paying taxes in Turkey on his income in North America. He would only pay taxes for any real estate he owns in Turkey, Turkish endorsements, etc.

Supa, I bet he has a Green Card though. He's been here for 8 or 9 years, and his daughter was born in the US, so she is an American citizen.

I'm not sure if this is right. I work with some Turks in my lab and I'm pretty sure they have to pay income tax to Turkey.

I don't know if Toronto has Orlando type pieces though. Howard, Lewis, Vince, Nelson, and Turk are better than Bosh, Bargnani, Calderon, Marion, Turk.

I really like Calderon's game, though. Hate Bargnani's, but love Calderon's.

Toronto would have to give up Marion to get Hedo and they don't have enough of a bench to go too deep (plus it sounds like Bosh won't resign at all so they might have to deal him).

Are they grad students? Maybe if they still have some form of residency in Turkey that could change the scenario.
