It was 2008. A girl softball player hit her only HR in her career but sprained her ankle rounding first base.

She could not be awarded a HR even assisted by her teammates. The opposing team offered to carry her. The ump said it was OK.

Closest I came was when Pharoah was pulling away down the stretch at Belmont. I never thought I'd get the chance to see one after being heartbroken so many times.

I'm 57. I've been a Saints fan since day one. Season ticket holder for 33 years. Gilliam's TD kickoff return, Dempsey's kick, all the rest of highs and lows, mostly lows.

When the Saints won the Super Bowl I was tearful and ecstatic. I drank 1981 vintage Who Dat Champagne (tasted like plum juice), danced a second line with my "Bum-brella", played Saints music for hours and cried like a baby.

I cried after the 1st LSU baseball CWS Championship for sure - it was the 1st NC for any team that I ever followed. Probably cried for the rest at least until 2009.

Lost it for both LSU FB NCs and was inconsolable after the 2011 season, although the season was a blast.

Sitting through a few of the 3-13 seasons in the past made this moment emotional for me

When Steve Gleason blocked that punt against Atlanta in 2006. Tears came to my eyes because of what it meant.

Super Bowl win - Tracy Porter INT for the TD. Unbelievable.

I was euphoric after the NFCCG, but I wanted the whole thing and not to just get there and lose like the Falcons. So, I was pretty nervous. With the Porter TD years and years of emotion came out. I remembered my grandfather and watching games with him and all the losing. It was amazing.

I cried after my last game in high school. Just really enjoyed that time of my life and it was May of senior year so i was just sad it was all ending.

I will cry if the US win the World Cup. That's probably it from a fan perspective. Maybe a UGA natty. I very nearly cried when Aaron Murray came out on senior night which was also my last game at uga and kinda the culmination of senior night festivities. Definitely pretty gay but I don't care.

I think the NFCCG was more emotional to me

I still get misty when I hear that call
"Pigs have flown. Hell has frozen over. The Saints are on their way to the Super Bowl"

Yeah, a handful of times.

Sports are emotional.

Cried at the end of the 2010 Texas A&M/Nebraska game (it was my and my wife's last games as students, my little brother's last home game as a walk-on, and an intense win in front of the largest crowd ever at Kyle Field up to that point. I honestly don't remember walking out of the stadium after that game. Was an incredible night).

Wept at the end of the 2013 NBA Finals after SA came so excruciatingly close and lost. Thought it would be the end of the Spurs contending during the Duncan era. Didn't know I could hurt like that over a basketball game

Shed tears after the Spurs made the 2014 Finals and after game 5. Greatest redemption run I've ever seen from a team that I root for. Meant a lot to me.

I know I'll cry if A&M ever wins a football national title, especially if my Dad is still alive.

Watched a classmate die on the field in high school playing football, so lots of tears were shed that year.. especially the last game of the season.

I get a little teary eyed when the VOLS take the field the first time I see it every year..

I'm not very attached to professional sports so LSU is where my passion lies. I have never cried during or after a game, but I have definitely had some emotional moments. Being a college football and LSU fan, there are so many emotional factors that influence a game, it's hard not to get choked up every now and again.

Shed a single tear after my last baseball game as a high school senior. As someone else mentioned, it was more the moment and the culmination of a portion of my life. I grew up playing baseball with 3 of my closest friends and we walked off the field together for the last time. Good memories growing up playing coach pitch with them and later on making a few good runs in the state tourney as HSers. My summers literally consisted of playing baseball with my best friends. The way we lost was pretty excruciating also, but the more I think about it, the more I realize how incredible of an ending it was.

I've shed tears while playing. But never while being a spectator.

For me playing football, I was so passionate about the game. I literally gave the game all I had every second I'm on the field, so it was very easy to get emotional

Yep, the waterworks started flowing after playing my last high school football game (lost in the 2nd round of the playoffs). It didn't really hit me until we were huddled up and saying our team prayer.

Also, Superbowl 44.

ehhh.. yeah.

my last high school game we were playing a highly ranked team and lost on a last second field goal.

the play before that i combined on a tackle for loss that pushed the field goal attempt back further.

that winning kick barely made it over the cross bar.

i always wondered if we had dragged that QB back a few more steps the play before if they would have gotten a different mark on that attempt.

i hated football for awhile after that, and for good measure, the Saints went 3-13 in 1999.

I'm surprised this has 15 dislikes. I know 1/9/12 is a bit of a sore spot around here, but this post wasn't trying to mock LSU. It was about a city that had been wrecked by a tornado and being happy for the people of that city.
