Tirico is just so so to me. It could always be worse than Gruden I guess. Remember Dennis Miller and Tony Kornheiser in the booth?

I'm thinking about it, but the Raiders baseball infield must be safer than whatever is going on in the middle of that field

This is what happens when the organizers make the actual game an afterthought.
Friday night - Tim McGraw concert with entire field covered in turf protection.
Saturday - Hall for Fame ceremony until 10pm, turf cover removed and the field is not ready to begin painting until after 3am.
This leave such a small margin of error for those guys putting the paint on the field. I'm glad this happened. Maybe people who plan these type of events will realize that shite can happen and they need to bring the focus back to why everyone is there.

Went back 10 pages and not 1 thread about HoF induction. But I can guarantee there would have been a thread about the game tonight if it was played.

Looks like a pretty fun weekend vacation trip to me Hall of Fame Saturday then the game Sunday
There have been a lot of renovations and upgrades in the HOF area. Basically, they want to make sure visitors don't have to see the rest of Canton. City is a crime riddled dump.
They also need to get this field fixed before McKinley high school starts their season

I'm sure an argument can be made that canceling the game is a safety issue like lightning or whatever. Do they refund for canceling games under that scenario?
I would look for those situations as guidance on how this will be handled, even though this was caused by human error, as it all falls under player safety.

NFL can't even get the field right
so happy for Goodell and his cronies

According to several sources familiar with the field preparation, things went awry after the subsequent painting of logos in the middle of the field and in the end zones on Sunday. Improper paint may have been used, and when it did not seem to be drying quickly enough, someone apparently made the dubious decision to heat the field in an effort to dry it -- thus melting the rubber pellets inside the FieldTurf and creating a slick, sticky and (in Baker's words) "congealed" effect. At one point about 2.5 hours before the game, stadium workers applied a substance that appeared to be paint thinner in an effort to remedy the issue. However, according to a Packers source, one Green Bay employee noticed a label that warned of severe burns when exposed to skin and took a photo of it, showing it to others after the teams later retreated to their respective locker rooms.

that reads like a series of retarded decisions

Wow. This is one of those "frick up of epic proportions" type of deals. Has an NFL game (regular or preseason) ever been cancelled because of human error like this?

That stadium used to have grass. It's time to bring it back.

In 2001, a Ravens/Eagles preseason game on FOX was canceled because of the bad Veteran's Stadium turf. Don't know if it was human error though. The turf was always bad at that place. Thankfully, Eagles got a nice grass field 2 years later.

The Oilers canceled a pre-season game once because a few pieces of the floor under the turf were left out when the converted from baseball configuration to football. It created an uneven playing field so they didn't want to play.
I had gone with my Dad... was going to be my first NFL game, but nope.
The conspiracy theory was that the Oilers waited until the last minute to tell the Astrodome officials because they wanted the game canceled to help their attempt to move to Nashville.

Wish the Oilers were still in Houston. Love that logo and uniforms.
