The Grizzlies are old, capped out (if they re-sign Gasol) and hit their head on the same ceiling every year. So what are they gonna do?

Saw this tweet and it's a legit question imo. They obviously desperately need a shooter or two, but how do they go about doing that?

Jeff Green gonna exercise that $9M player option?

Green was a huge disappointment after coming to the Grizz. I thought he was the final piece they needed, but he drastically underperformed down the stretch.

Yeah he was terrible. They gotta be praying he declines that option.

Really. That will be a 9 mil hit if he snags it, and they need that cap to try and grab someone.

It is so hard to find elite three point shooters in this league right now. A lot of guys take percentage hits when they switch teams in that department, and very few great shooters can defend well. So many NBA teams are desperate for a guy to spread the floor.

Not a whole lot they can do, all of their players other than Conley/Gasol are on the wrong side of their career and those 2 won't ever be good enough to win a title without a 3rd banana who is better than both of them imo. Not an attractive destination for free agents. If they lose Gasol I'd imagine they'd be out of the playoffs for 3 yrs minimum.

Grizz need to tighten up their 70 ft from the basket defense.

Honestly I think it's the end of the playoff era for a little but unless they can resign Marc and draft well. This draft is thankfully deep enough that we may can snag a quality player late.

This.

Keep Gasol and Conley, have Z-Bo on an extension at a decent price, let him play that contract out.

Gotta figure out the SG and SF spots though. And yea Jeff Green has been a major disappointment in Memphis, to say the least.

But if you can keep Gasol and Conley, you'll always have something to build around for the next few years.

Go after the Gasol brother that walked on at UCLA before heading back to Spain.

Conley is just hitting his prime? Gasol at 30 I can see.

Conley and Gasol are a great combo that you can work with, but yeah the Grizz need more at this point. Jeff Green ain't getting the job done, Tony Allen is essentially there for his defense, and Randolph's skill set is easy to replace at this point. Vince Carter is still being productive late in his career, but he's obviously not there for the long run.

Long story short, they need more talent on the outside and gutting the front court might be the only way to free up cap space.

Would he even sniff that on the open market? I think not.

Gasol and Conley are in their prime now, Conley just entering his Gasol prob about midway thru his peak. Randolph and Allen def on the downside. They aren't good enough to win a title and I don't see how they can get there.
