Lets bring baseball into this.

Mike Trout is a freak of nature. Fast, big, strong, incredible hand-eye coordination, etc.

baseball players are always underrated as athletes. When in fact they probably transition to other sports better than any athlete because of the coordination baseball brings.

Lebron could learn 2 routes at WR/TE and be dominant.

TE ain't easy to play. Especially when you consider the blocking aspect of it.

Calvin would be another 6'6" guy that can jump really high in the NBA. Those are a dime a dozen.

It would depend on his handles. A good number of football guys can ball, believe it or not.

Like I said, it'd be interesting

Nah, I think Calvin would be like a Gerald Green-ish type NBA player. LeBron, like the guy above said, can learn 1/4 of the route tree and be a really good receiver. Just his size, will to win and pure athletic ability will take over IMO

For baseball I'll throw in Yoenis Cespedes and Aroldis Chapman.

Jimmy Graham went from basketball player to Top 2 TE in a couple years.

Mike Evans had a great transition between the two sports, and continues to get better.

I don't know if someone could transition to basketball that way.

Charlie Ward?

Nate Robinson too, I believe.

shite, if you're talented, you're talented, I guess, is what I get out of all this

He played basketball in college too. He didn't make a complete shift in sports. Just chose one ahead of the other.

I'll have to read up about the other two.

Meh, being a great receiver takes a LOT more than just knowing the route tree. Being a great route runner is easier said than done. The best receivers/TEs are consistently underrated technically.

He'd get his, though. Not trying to say he wouldn't.

I absolutely agree, but when you're 6'8" and can run like LeBron does and have the body control that LeBron does, route running becomes less and less important.

That's what I don't like about these "analyst". Some of these guys that are talked about for being "great", are actually better athletes and than they are football players. They may be great athletes, but that doesn't make the great football players. You get what I'm saying? These people see speed, they see a star. Maybe they're getting something that I'm not, but I sure as hell don't what they see

Precisely.

Again, I'm really not trying to rag on LeBron, or anyone else for that matter. I just think there's more to it than "this guy's a freak athlete and has all the measurables and a will to win--no way he WOULDN'T be a star!" Just so much more to succeeding at the pro level in any sport than that. Most of it, stuff that us casual (and even the hardcore) fans never can and never will be able to see and/or appreciate.

But hey, if you can play, you can play. Some folks are just rare like that.

Agree. It's the work ethic, attitude, willing to spend that time away from family, the physical contact, business part and alot more. What some fans don't notice, if you don't have the mental part locked down then you won't succeed. I think LeBron's biggest to get down first will be, 1st and foremost that it's not basketball. You need to start from the bottom and work you're way up just like the rest of the team. You're not an automatic star from day one and still need to prove yourself.

I think PP would be a better athlete than some are giving him credit for though. Can you imagine him in basketball? I'm thinking he'd be a Westbrook clone, based on athletic ability and size alone
