For those of you who love diving into analytics, this is a metric I feel has been a long time coming.
With the new player movement tracking technology they have basically been able to breakdown NBA players points allowed per 100 possessions and individual opponents shot charts. Really good read.

Next metric I want to see kept track of is "Changed shots" the emergence of AD has brought to light how many shots are influenced by a big man or a good defender.
Its time they kept track of that as well. Its not that difficult to tell when a shot was changed.

Yes it took until AD entered the league for people to see that bigs can alter shots..

NVM, RTR beat me to it.

Yes they should be able to keep altered shots as a statistic, but I would argue that in the larger scheme of things ultimately a metric that accurately measures the rate that you keep your opponent from scoring largely makes blocks and changed shots largely irrelevant.

I actually think this is a really cool way to analyze things. It can also stop giving people the impression that James Harden has turned into an all-world defender. He's much better this year, and is the MVP, but he's still not a great defensive player.

That's Hardens data from 2013 though, right?

Well now I feel like an idiot... Haha.

Duncan/Hibbert/Howard charts for the Dwight Effect is a myth contingent.

The AD Effect. Encouraging people to make defensive metrics since 2015.

Mental masturbation crap

Read that article earlier very cool. I'd like to see what hardens has been this year compared to last

Looking at those charts, the first thing that came to mind was:
Is it better to deter shots and have the player you are defending pass the ball to other players, or to have your opponent shoot the ball against you at a below average rate?
