Georgia Tech has parted ways with head coach Brian Gregory, the school announced Friday.

Gregory, 49, replaced Paul Hewitt in 2011 and did not take the Yellow Jackets to the NCAA tournament during his tenure. He was 76-86 overall and 27-61 in ACC play.

So the NIT run couldn't save his job.

That is pathetic with the 5-10 rent a wins per year these schools schedule.

With 1 to 2 games a year vs Duke, UNC, UVA, Notre Dame & Syracuse, it's a wash. The ACC grind has killed much better coaches.

ND and Cuse weren't there for half his tenure and UVA wasn't UVA at the beginning.

Gregory's problem was the outlook for next season was terrible. He has signed no one and the GA HS class of 2017 is loaded. With him at the helm, GT potentially misses out on a lot of really good players.

The guy I am hearing GT wants is entrenched in the Ga AAU scene and is a proven recruiter at the ncaa level. We will see if it pans out.

But BC and FSU were relevant back then.

BC's best record during Gregory's tenure is 16-17. FSU is wildly inconsistent basically every season.

I'm sure Georgia Tech will upgrade their head coaching position anyway, something LSU will never have the balls to do.

Their fans care more. How are their facilities? Because the first three years in that conference will be a death march.

ACC grind? UVA has been good since 2014, before that they were mediocre at best. ND and Cuse have been in the ACC for 2 years and lets not act like ND is some great squad. Solid 6-10 seed tourney team at best.

The ACC is the most overrated basketball conference in the land.
