Stanford seems to be leading pro sports in producing out of the closet professional athletes.

Or it makes it ten times easier coming out knowing he'll likely not get picked up by a team.

Either way, good for him.

I'm surprised more black athletes, especially the ones who live in Atlanta, haven't been outed yet. I n this age of camera phones, twitter, instagram, and gossip sites, you would think someone would have been caught with their pants down, Besides Kerry Rhodes.

I highly respect his decision to come out but this seems to be a no lose situation for him. He's had a 12 year career and if nobody wanted him for basketball reasons he now has the book/ttalk show/speaking circuit OR some team takes him for the publicity.

Convenient to say the least.

First active gay athlete to come out of the closet involved with a Boston team and it was not Tom Brady? That is the real shocker.

I would hope many more feel comfortable in this time, but I don't kn ow if this will make them anymore so. Good for him though. It's about time someone did.

[quote]I didn't come out to my brother until last summer. His reaction to my breakfast revelation was radically different from Aunt Teri's. He was downright astounded. He never suspected. So much for twin telepathy. But by dinner that night, he was full of brotherly love. For the first time in our lives, he wanted to step in and protect me. Read More: LINK ]

I imagine some NFL journey man will come out this offseason, and when he doesnt sign anywhere they will call the NFL homophobes for not signing a shitty player
