Shed is a kind word for it. I'd go with hemorrhaged.

If it wasn't for college football (Longhorn Network, College Gameday, ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, SEC Network, etc.) I would cancel immediately.

And how many of those lost consumers also lost HBO? Also how many of these consumers were college students leaving school for break and returning to home residences?

The only reason I have ESPN is for LSU sports. If ESPN didn't broadcast LSU sports I would cancel with a quickness too.

hey leave the man alone the longhorn network replays the 2005 title game often so the UT fans can remember what it was like to be good, that and all the hot girls in all the commercials make it worthwhile

That's less than one percent. Not exactly an emergency. We're in the dog days of summer.

They'll gain more subscribers as the NFL season approaches.

Is it directly related to ESPN or more a matter of the cord-cutting trend?

The only reason I haven't cut the cord is sports.

We don't know, a cord cutter could still get HBO Go.

im sure the replay the 2009 Big 12 title game as well, you know that one they bought and paid for by having the refs and the Big 12 in their front pocket.

i mentioned before you can cut the cord and just buy an amazon firestick jailbroken with KODI for a 1 time $60 payment on ebay, inside kodi use the app sportsdevil and get every single sporting event LIVE without cable

There is just no way these athletes will be making todays money in 20 years

Why does ESPN get singled out?

fair enough but ESPN isnt gonna just roll over and die today, it may in the future, but whatever happens they're under attack from all sides right now yet teams are paying athletes more than ever based on new TV deals over a decade in which theyll face more cord cutting than ever

ill be watching with my popcorn....and no subscription to cable

Man, I wish I were more tech savvy to do things like that. I'm intrigued and would love to cut the cord and keep the shows I want but don't have the skills to do so. I occasionally browse these jailbreaking threads on reddit and other places but I don't get it. When I see things like this, I get completely lost:

my local library is hosted with plex.tv software which is a fork from XBMC so no I did my stream my guardians via XBMC itself.

I typed all that into the fire TV stick as a source, but when I go to install from zip, all I have is folders. Cache, lib, resources, and of course folders within those folders. But I don't have a zip file

so you streamed the 1080p via plex and not XBMC ? cause im trying to just run it over XMBC and im noticing terrible quality loss like the codec's it is trying to use is something way different than the codecs it uses for the ATV2... Trust me I want to rid of myself of the ATV2, but right now I'd rather wait the 2 minutes of re boot time and slow menus every new file I play than deal with the low quality, that is if I can even ever get it to reconnect again

The new updated software can detect the if your device is rooted and it prevents booting the system into rooted OS. It is doing it by burning an eFuse. Once eFuse is burned your device can only boot into safe mode in which you still have all the original features but you lose root access

Because people think it is cool and edgy to bash ESPN for making boatloads of money. Any perceived weakness is easy to gloat about.
