yeah it always cracks me up when people talk about the superiority of "cutting the cord" while advocating for stealing content

Thats not true you have ways with PS Vue where you can stream on multiple devices at the same time and they give you a login for Watch ESPN, Watch ABC, Fox & NBC On Demand etc.

I can get pretty much every channel I'd want to watch on PS Vue for about $35 per month. I pay $5 extra to get local CBS live with on demand, which yes would even show the football games. I paid $20 for HD antenna just in off chance I had issues with CBS, NBC, ABC, & Fox of the world.

It's very simple to get every sporting event you could want, most people just never even look into it, but at least PS Vue covers most everything you want including SEC Network.

If I could do this I would cancel cable tomorrow, only reason I keep it is to watch Astros games every night

That was my biggest issue. There are ways around blackout restrictions though for a couple dollars per month. I really hope MLB.TV next year just comes to some sort of agreement to end blackouts like theyve discussed in the past.

How does this compare year-to-year? Summer is a big cut bait and run time for a network like ESPN, but how does this compare with previous years?

Then think when the Fall starts...in August...when college students return to school.

This. Just switch over to the Fox Sports channels. You will be happy. And won't have to wonder if you are watching CNN or ESPN as they read sports star's twitter feeds about the latest headline news.

Fox Sports is garbage

Other channels are going through it, don't know why the celebrating since LSU benefits from TV money.

It's not just ESPN either, most sports networks are losing subscribers: ESPN2 lost over 1.5 million, FS1 lost 950,000 (though FS2 gained 736,000), NBC Sports Network lost 300k and the NFL Network lost 324k. (The losses to these companies are comparatively small, however because the monthly subscriber fees are much lower. FS1's decline in subscribers cost the network around $12 million -- partially canceled out by an increase in FS2 revenue, NBC Sports Network lost just a million dollars and the NFL Network lost just $5 million.

If it wasn't for college football (Longhorn Network, College Gameday, ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, SEC Network, etc.) I would cancel immediately.

+1. And honestly, with LSU playing the majority of their games on CBS, I have considered switching anyway and then going to a bar or buddy's house for the occasional ESPN game.
