That's where Vue comes in. DVR Functionality and actually a dedicated Guide. $30 a month, a multiple streams at a time.
Yep. As soon as my Direct TV deal runs out in a few months, I'll definitely be looking to make the switch to Vue.

Ravich is the one I was speaking of. Bob Ley has been there longer. Ravich could not explain an appeal play, and Kyle Peterson had to explain it. Also, some of the announcers last names, I can't even pronounce.

A la carte TV packages are coming soon from all the major providers.

They have to adapt. The world is tired of paying to have 80 channels they literally never watch or use.

Im on board but who the hell is gonna pay for investigation discovery or food tv, or lifetime. There is so much garbage and the ad dollars are so targeted on those channels but it would be great for consumers to finally get to pick what we want. Its ridiculous that we dont get to now, the crappy channels must be such a money grab for them to not want to do ala carte. The crap channels must literally get such a small percent of revenue sharing that they just tag them onto packages.

What does that have to do with announcing a game?

You could buy mlb.tv for $100/yr and have every game

If I could do this I would cancel cable tomorrow, only reason I keep it is to watch Astros games every night

No one "subscribes" to ESPN. You get ESPN as a part of a cable bundle. They are losing customers because more and more people are cord cutting.

I'm far from an expert, but last time I checked I can't pick and choose my programming on a channel by channel basis.
There are lots I'd cancel if it worked that way.

In other words, what you say makes sense to me.

I don't understand why they don't just offer a fee for the WatchESPN app to non cable subscribers, or offer packages for college football. I'm sure a good bit of cord cutters would pay $10-$15/month for 4 months out of the year to watch college football.

Because if you're only going to subscribe for 4 months they're losing money at $15/month. That being said, I'm pretty sure you can add or drop ESPN programming with Sling TV as often as you'd like and it is only $14.99/month.

The point is that if you made it easy to add/drop ESPN a la carte and on demand, then the cost you pay will skyrocket. They really don't have a choice because they've got to pay for these broadcast rights.

That sounds great, but I think we'll end up paying mostly the same when all is said and done.

Interesting. Never heard of that. I'll look into it

Pretty sure Vue is one of the few to offer CBS streaming, so if you don't have a great OTA signal it can help for LSU games and whatnot.

I'm guessing at least 2 of those channels have more viewers than some of your favorites (and mine)

im sure the replay the 2009 Big 12 title game as well, you know that one they bought and paid for by having the refs and the Big 12 in their front pocket.

Aren't you the idiot who told the OT world that you overdrafted your bank account at least once per month?

You don't know shite about finance or the rules of college football.

The only reason I have ESPN is for LSU sports. If ESPN didn't broadcast LSU sports I would cancel with a quickness too.

So the only reason you have ESPN is because something you want to watch is on it. .

Gotcha

Cable needs more shows like Last Man Standing if it wants to survive.

I stopped watching ESPN regularly in January of 2012 when LSU and the Saints lost in the same week. The call to put Alabama in the BCS game by ESPN was ridiculous and influenced the selection process. Something in me just made me sick of the politics that they promoted.

Then, we had Bounty Gate, which was pathetic. I watched a couple of times, couldn't take it anymore, and that was it. I haven't watched it since except for college football games.

No Sportscenter or College Gameday or anything. I just lost interest completely. They don't report on sports. They promote agendas and soap opera drama garbage. I don't care. I'll watch an actual game, but their programming is terrible.

Some people do watch discovery, lifetime, food tv, etc. Without people like you and I subsidizing the costs for these channels, they wouldn't exist. But it works both ways...

You named ESPN, cnbc, Fox News, tbs, tnt as channels you'd pick to pay for. 4 of those are in the top 10 of most expensive channels in cable/satellite bundles. 5 if you include espn2.

ESPN $6.61/month
TNT $1.65
Fox News $1.12
TBS $0.85
Espn2 $0.83

So while you are subsidizing cheap arse channels like lifetime and foodtv, the people who have cable to watch those channels are subsidizing the expensive channels you watch. People like you and I are getting a deal. Those 5 channels ALONE might cost a combined $50/month in a pay for what you watch tv model.. maybe more.

The world is going to be in for a rude awakening when they realize 80 channels will cost the same as 5 if everything is sold a la carte.

You are living in a dream world if you think a channel like ESPN will only be $20-$30 or channels like FX and AMC will be $5 if they no longer have millions of bundled cable subs to fall back on.

Wouldn't the internet providers just raise prices if everyone is using so much data? I feel if you want content you are going to still pay for it one way or another.
