Regardless, that is pretty shitty of ESPN to not even put the right logo up. Some "Worldwide Leader in Sports". But, that ought to tell ya'l they really din't give a shite what you call your university.

My question for ULL fans, why is it so important that the name change happens? Like, will it really make that much of a difference outside of troll threads on this board?

Most people agree Lafayette is a nicer place to live than BR (we won't go into why it's nicer -- rather not get banned). I don't know why this isn't good enough for Laffy people
The legislature should change the name to Acadiana University and end this shite once and for all

Because we legally changed our name a while back and then a group of people made it illegal. Why? Probably because that group of people had an inferiority complex. With that said, some of our older fans are too pissy. But I can't really blame them since they've had to deal with an incompetent athletic department for so long as well as another University telling them to know their place.
I'm not going down this rabbit hole of a debate though. It's pointless and I honestly don't really care anymore. I'm with the other poster that said they like USL more anyway.
Louisiana has caused too much of a headache and isn't as identifiable, and ULL just sounds weird. USL sounds the best and gives us more of a unique identity. I'm sick of being confused with Monroe.

Lafayette has a lot of charm to it, but the back and forth between some people here and the LSU crowd is super annoying

The majority of this crap is split between two fronts
1. The ULL vs LSU political camps in the Legislature fighting over state money
2. The sidewalk LSU fans in Lafayette vs the outspoken diehards on Ragin Pagin/Jay Walker Radio. A lot of People in Lafayette talk about LSU, very few in Baton Rouge talk about ULL.
ULL leadership has long been their worst problem. ULL once had an alumnus in the Legislature help defeat their own capital improvement bill that the School President said they desperately needed. This type of thing would never happen with LSU.
The ULL disfunction goes far beyond their name and branding.

Ironically the thing that kills my ULL friends most of all are the ULL alumni that tailgate at LSU games religiously. To my ULL friends that is the ultimate betrayal.

LSUkumquat lives in a different universe. It's always trying to come off as some sort of intellect with its attempts at "gotcha" posts. It's nothing more than something that has envy of a certain group of folks.

Most of the anti-UL folk on here either went to ULM/McNeese/La Tech or never went to college at all.
