The only star to win a title by himself is Dirk and he needed a very deep team to do it. So there isn't any reason to criticize a star because they can't do it by themselves. Also there isn't anything wrong with getting together with good talent.

The way Howard, Melo, and CP3 handle the whole process is horrible IMO. They bitch and complain instead of playing out their contract.

These guys shouldn't be able to go where they want and get the max deals.

word. before the season he said he considers the Hawks owners to be clowns (in so many words), so it might take a miracle.

and I'd be open to trading Josh to get him. I think their friendship/ want to play together might be overblown.

There's really no one on the team I wouldn't trade for him

So Howard should not state which teams he would like to play for long term? What team would tade for Hoawrd when they are not sure he would leave them after the second half of this season is over?

Ya know, I bet any team in the NBA could discover Howards intentions with a phone call to the Magic or Dwight's agent. A weekly status update on Dwight's chosen teams by ESPN is nothing but an attempt at leveraging a trade partner of his choosing.

Backfired on NYC, to date. There was so much public pressure to aquire Melo, that the rest of the roster and available cap space be damned.

Congrats on your two elite players, one decent young player, average center, and 12 scrubs. Enjoy 7th-8th in the east.

I've been saying the Bulls could put together the best offer since last year. Don't know why he would wait until now to add them to his list. If the Bulls could get him without giving up Deng they might be the favorites to win it all.

nothing wrong with that leverage

they did just sign tyson chandler to a max deal in the offseason

NYC has a coaching problem. either tehy need steve nash to run their offense or need a new coach who will design an offense around amare and melo (with the available backcourt talent)

well they'll likely get some solid, older FAs who want to play on a title contender. they drafted well this year. they're not that far away (assuming they fire dantoni)

would trading Noah, Gibson, and 2nd round pick be a fair trade?

no. even if the Magic didn't have that Hedo Tax they're likely to impose in a trade.

what would their offer be?

ETA: I'm seeing something based around Noah, Asik, with maybe Taj, and def. a few 1st rounder or 2 (which would be late 20s picks)

Agreed. I didn't say anything they were doing is unjust or illegal. It just leaves a bad taste for me. But I entirely understand the tactic.

And now there are rumors of trading Amare to ease the cap situation. Chandler, FOR THE MONEY, wasn't a great signing.

1000% agree.

You really see them as a title contender in the East, SFP? Even if Howard goes West, I still think NYC is only the 4th or 5th best team in the East. Maybe that changes with a defensive coach, but are Amare and Melo guys that will buy into that philosophy?

Dwight for Deng, Noah, Taj, and a couple 1st rounders.....make it happen Otis

and lol @ Hawks fans.....y'all are screwed with JJ's contract and no way the Magic trade Dwight to someone in our division

I agree completely. Him and LeBron are way too young to be chasing a title already. Stick with your team and win one the hard way.

Lulz. The man wants to win, I'm not going to hold that against him, just like I didn't hold it against Lebron.

guessing you're taking on Deng's deal to include Hedo. I'd make the Bulls send Asik, or maybe even take Asik over Taj.

long term maybe, but in the next few yrs, I say try and get a legit star to pair with him. you gotta try.

and I'm not thinking the Magic would take Joe back (though it is Otis...), but something based around Horford and Hinrich's expiring would be a start. if Dwight wanted to come home, which he doesn't.

meh, overblown. division stuff isn't that big in the grand scheme of the NBA. you're probably trading him in the Conf, pretty much the same thing.

In all honesty, I don't understand why Dwight doesn't want to go back home to Atlanta. If I were him, I'd rather go there and become a champion rather than follow in someone else's footsteps (MJ, Shaq, Dirk, etc).

he wants to get paid and win.

neither of which will happen in atlanta.

I heard Marc Stein on the radio say Dwight might not want to go to the Lakers because of the comparisons between him and Shaq. Cited Shaq's digs at him on TNT (called Bynum best big man in the league) and off TV. Don't know what to make of it so TIFWIW.

Wade is my favorite player in the NBA and the Heat are my team, but Wade for Howard would be a great trade for the Heat, and Orlando would get back a top 5 player for him.

they'd no doubt pay him. but he and Joe would eat up most of the cap room, and the Hawks owners don't like paying the tax.

and the team's winning and would win bigger with him. even after a trade, they'd likely have a good nucleus to win with. Joe would be the best teammate he's ever had IMO, even if he isn't a
Wade/ Kobe superstar.

but Dwight doesn't wanna play for the Hawks owners, they're clowns. and he knows it. sumbitches couldn't even sell the team right this offseason. try making sure your buyer actually has the money first, dummies.

What? He did not win that title in Detriot alone. 3 other starters were also All-Stars, and Prince was great then also.
