If there was any inkling he was staying in Houston, that may have been thrown out the door.

I felt like my role was being reduced. I went to [Rockets general manager] Daryl [Morey] and said, 'I want to be more involved.' Daryl said, 'No, we don't want you to be.' My response was, 'Why not? Why am I here?' It was shocking to me that it came from him instead of our coach. So I said to him, 'No disrespect to what you do, but you've never played the game. I've been in this game a long time. I know what it takes to be effective.'''

There was no doubt he was gone the moment they decided to look at D'antoni. That lakers team was one of the most disfunctional playoff teams ever. Maybe only 2nd to this years rockets team.

When is he going to start using that knowledge?

Since he has taken over HOU is the 3rd most winningest team in the league. That's solid. He also has orchestrated some of the biggest trade fleeces in the recent history.

As soon as he figures out that the NBA isn't a giant playground for him to frolick in. So, never.

dud he was gone regardless of who the coach was there won't be many if any restricted FAs who opt in this offseason with the cap bump.

What has he done to be considered 'overrated' though? Who is overrating him?

So his GM told him a tough truth that he didn't want to hear. And he responded with...

quote:

"My friends kept telling me, 'Even if you aren't getting shots, there are so many other things you can control while you are on the floor.' And they were right. I allowed not getting the ball to affect me. That's on me. As a big, someone who has been the focal point of the team, who is still young, who still has some great years in front of me, you run the floor, you sprint as hard as you can, you duck in, and still, you don't get the ball. It brings you down. It sucks the energy out of you. I had long conversations with people close to me who said, 'Dwight, this is going to make you look bad. Don't keep doing this.' So I listened to them.''

Says nothing about Morey, and everything about Dwight.

With Dwight's talent, he should've been terrorizing the league for 10 years now.

If he was playing up to his potential he wouldn't have to ask anyone to get him more involved. That's all on him.

I like the guy but he's always blaming others for his shortcomings.
