Kiffin wasnt a bad hire at UT. He went 7-6? with good recruiting. Then he got offered more money at a bigger program and his dream school.

So many of Kiffin's best recruits either left or didn't pan out though.

Rich Rod at Michigan. Hear me out, his teams were getting better and better each year. I fully believe he was turning that team into the Oregon of the big ten. All they needed was a competent DC. And look what they have now. A fat stooge who is in way over his head.

At the same time as wanting to get rid of Fulmer, UT fans were wanting the same for "3rd and Chavis". Tennessee didn't realize how good of a D coordinator they had. Their hate of Fulmer clouds their judgement. He had 2 bad years in his last 4, trying to recruit to a state devoid of talent while the rest of the SEC was on the rise and in the middle of beginning the consecutive NC streak.

Still a bad firing.

Not really. He was committed to one style of offense and that style was dinosaur that wasn't going to get them anywhere anymore.

They played in the BCS title game and had just finished a 10 win season when they fired him.

How, exactly, is that "not getting anywhere"?

Jeff Bower - Southern Miss, look at where they are now. Fedora won with Bower's playesr

No. Just no. Fedora won 12 games in his 4th year. The only "Bower players" on that team were the 5th year seniors. Their only year under Bower was the year they redshirted. Fedora didn't win with Bower's players. Firing Bower wasn't a mistake. Hiring Ellis Johnson was. He is why USM is where they are now.

They actually had a pretty decent year that season.

Yes, I would call 9 wins and beating a Tebow led Florida team in a bowl game "decent"...

David Cutcliffe

Cutcliffe wasn't anything special. He had Deuce McAllister and Eli manning during his time at Ole Miss. They went 10-3 with Eli Manning and returned everybody but Eli the following year and went 4-7. He couldn't recruit and was to loyal to his upperclassmen and refused to play young players. He had Patrick Willis sitting on the bench for 2 years when he was our best defender. He had a nice run at Ole Miss going 44-29 but that program was not heading in the right direction. He was asked to make staff changes and address recruiting but refuse to and Ole Miss fired him.I think after Eli left Cutcliffe was never going to do anything else.He is a solid coach but can't recruit and is to loyal to his players. What makes this looks so bad is the guy that replaced him.

Did you watch what happen in that BCS title game?

They weren't an elite program anymore. Texas and Oklahoma had passed them as the heads of the BIG 12 and Kansas State was going to run the North. Hell if Barnett hadn't been pushed out at Colorado, Nebraska was going to be relegated to 3rd in their own damn division.

Kids don't want to go to middle of no damn where to play in an outdated offense. Solich may have been able to squeak out another year or two at 8-9 wins, but ultimately change was going to be need for Nebraska to have any real success in the long run.
