Don't you think the Yankees should've had 30 World Series by now?

27th: 2001
28th: 2004
29th: 2009
30th: 2017

Shows how random baseball is.......that 2001 Yanks team should have won that year...

The Yankees were outscored by like 30 runs in the 2001 World Series. They were lucky as hell to even get into a seventh game to begin with due to the complete incompetence of Bob Brenly and Byung-Hyun Kim.

You mean when they were also cheating... and still lost?

The Yanks overperformed in '01 because of 9/11 and because Steinbrenner was paying them to fourpeat.

They were the dynasty of the 90s, they had to extend it in the 2000s.

Should have won in 1960, 2003, 2004… the bloody sock broke them

I still have no idea why and how Byung-Hyun Kim was put in closing situations time and time and time again in that series...

A team where Randy Johnson and Curt Schilling in their absolute primes pitched 4 times almost lost because of one incompetent closer.

14-1 win is the same as a 2-1 win. It's Clutch & Late that matters.

Because they had the heart of a champion could NOT and would not go quietly. 2001 Series was a classic no matter who you liked.

SHOULD have finished off the D-Backs, taking the lead in Game 7 late with Mariano closing it.

Cheap hits, an E-1 on the bunt, a bloop and...well, they didn't win #30.

Because Brenley had faith in Kim who was a dominant reliever that year?....(up till the Bronx Bombers struck lightning TWICE! late!)

Amazing performances by Johnson and Schilling. They broke my heart.

*nodding*

1960. Ralph Terry. (Was said to be the only time Mantle ever cried after a loss)

2003. How do they lose to that noobie Marlin team?

2004 (HA! The Bloody Sock)

Up 3-1 then losing broke them.

Mariano failed only twice in his life (once 2004 almost-series clincher vs Bosox ) and then in failing to lock down WS #30 in the 9th vs the D-Backs)

And losing in 7 is the same as getting swept. Either way, you aren’t the champs.

D-backs threw the Big Unit and Schilling until their arms fell off in that series. Kim was the scapegoat and almost cost them the series. Luis Gonzales and his roid rage won that bad boy.

This is the wildest World Series box score you'll ever see. The Yankees outscored the Pirates 55-27 in the series and lost.

The odd-on favorites.

Total dominance by Piniella's squad all year. Ran afoul of the Bomber Dynasty Mystic buzz-saw....

Also victimized: The great Giambi-Tejada Oakland A's team of that same 2001. The Yanks were down 0-2 and looking dead before taking them out as well.

The 2001 NY Yankees were actually underdogs to all three superior teams. They moved on during the post-season on sheer will and heart (and came a whisker from extending the Dynasty by just 3-outs in Game 7 to another more dominant D-Back team.)

What? Sweeps are the SAME as 7 Game brawls?? Ok, lol.

Technically you "win" the debate IF all that matters is a World Series statistical bottom line of Winner / Loser.

Yeah, let's dismiss the battles, action, and drama of a Game 7, 9th Inning deciding the Final Verdict (see 2001, 1960)
