They'll have some good players playing... but the rosters are nowhere near the best players in the U.S.

That's beside the point. The point is that what makes America the best at the Olympic sports is the coaching, scouting, infrastructure etc in place...not just that we have the best natural athletes. When people from other countries are exposed to that (see US baseball academies in the Caribbean) they are just as good and many times better than their American counterparts.

being great at NFL football or basketball does not equate to having the potiential to be great at Soccer. Soccer requires a lot more finesse, endurance, and intelligence than what NFL players possess. It's a bit more of a chess match. You need finesse and touch, intelligent play, great coordination and endurance with a burst of speed, determination and dedication, and a great ability to work as a team. It's the total opposite of the characteristics of what our top elite athletes possess in our top sports. Soccer could co-exist along with NFL football and NBA basketball as a top league sport in the USA if we developed the players in the proper manner.

Dude, I don't see how it's hard to comprehend that people with better athleticism are better at sports. You seem to think that soccer is a game that doesn't require athleticism and is 100% technical. bullshite. Same with baseball.
