Lol. No Belgium wasn't faster. They got beat all day outside in foot races. They are more on the same page in the offensive third of the field. US did not look like a cohesive unit with a plan when on the offensive 3rd. Like those guys never played together.

Yes, we need more black guys to overcome the speed of Europe's white guys.

It might be true though give the technical deficiencies we have.

This x1000

I was surprised at the speed difference between our players and some of the other teams we played.

Can we not teach Xavier Carter how to kick a soccer ball instead of the hood of a car?

It was not speed it was execution and fundamentals. Athleticism and speed is all that kept US in it at all.

The Belgium and Ghana players were running straight pass our players on breakaways. The speed difference was very noticeable

Um, we were smoking fools on the edges with our own speed and chasing breakaways down.

Speed ain't the problem, it's maintenance of possession and creativity on offense that will start winning us these games tbh.

Dude, in well over 50% of those breakaways the opponent was looking to pass, not score. Not hard to recover when the one you are chasing quits running.

Im not gonna argue or debate soccer strategy or play because I really dont know shite about the sport. But I can clearly look on the field and notice who is running faster. And our players looked slower than the players on the other team.

I mean, it was pretty obvious to me. Maybe I wasnt drunk enough to see why our guys were getting outrun, but I was sober enough to see that they were getting outrun.

We need guys who can pass the ball. Seriously, speed is not our problem. But, yeah, we could use more great athletes of all colors playing if we want to be a top-tier team.

Our problems were lack of possession (shitty passing) and lack of execution.

Speed is what it is. Hardly the primary reason we got beat. If anything our speed kept us in the game longer than we should have been.

That's really all it comes down to. If you're playing soccer in the US it's probably because you're not athletic enough to play football or basketball. Maybe once football dies because of lawsuits we'll switch to basketball/soccer. Our hispanic population could slowly improve the overall quality until the sport gains critical mass.

I think soccer will continue to grow. We'll field enough athletes to compete.

Winning consistently will come with time.
