I sort of think they rig it for TV ratings...not the teams but the matchups.

If that was the Top 4...no way in hell Bama is playing FSU in a semifinal.

That is what I mean. If I had to take 2 teams that could beat any other team in the country more times than not, it's those two.

I can probably get on board with that. Pretty close call though.

shite, I'd go on the record now that I think Alabama and State will play in the national championship game,

I don't think State gets past Ole Miss. I don't believe the SEC gets two teams in.

Considering the committee will likely put FSU #1 in the playoff, I really do think Alabama and Mississippi State are going to play in the national championship game.

IDK. If it was in Starkvegas I think State pulls it out...but it isn't. It is a big rivalry with more on the line than ever. Ole Miss will want to play spoiler. It'll be interesting for sure.

That'll be a war. State played awful today and still played a close game on the road at Alabama.

They're good. So is Ole Miss.

To me, if State wins at Ole Miss, I don't know how you can keep them out of the playoff. Who are you going to jump ahead of them during championship weekend when they don't play? TCU for beating Iowa State? Ohio State for beating Wisconsin?

Baylor plays Kansas State. That's the one to look at. Either way, jumping one of those teams up would be saying that their win that day warranted jumping them over a resume that State has accumulated over the course of the entire season.

I think State is still in good shape.

Technically, if Auburn beats Alabama earlier in the day, the Egg Bowl will be for the West division title.

Wouldn't surprise me at all. Hell I wouldn't be surprised if we screw it all up against Auburn the way this season has gone.

I'm just happy we are in the conversation because I sort of expected a down season this year. If OJ Howard doesn't get that hold called on him at the end of the Ole Miss game we are probably still undefeated.

I'd feel safer in saying Ole Miss can take them out if Treadwell was healthy. They are really going to miss him.

FSU losing tonight would have significantly increased Ohio State's chances to make it. They would have essentially just needed Alabama or Miss State to lose one more. Oregon/ASU will wipe one out and I highly doubt both Big 12 teams get in, even if both win out.

TCU is pretty much fricked at this point if Baylor beats K-State. The two resumes would be rather even at that point, and head-to-head would take over.

Big if. Both teams took a step back this year but the game is in Tuscaloosa and Bama has revenge on their mind.

If it does happen...holy shite the egg bowl is actually a big deal

By no means am I discrediting what Alabama has done this year, but they've taken a big step back. The D is good enough but not dominant like it has been. The offense just seems like a clusterfrick that works. Like if you took LSU and threw in a semi-competent QB and had a few breaks go their way...that is Bama's offense.

The rest of the SEC is down. Bama is very fortunate to have a "down year" this year.

Again, not trying to discredit what they have done because they're still a solid team. They just aren't the juggernaut we saw in past years.

Spurriers quote about "we all know what great teams look like" is very applicable to this year's college football season.

There really isn't one. At least not compared to some of the great teams we've seen in the last 5 years.

I'm just praying both Alabama and Miss State lose their rivalry games mainly because shite would hit the fan.

Agreed. Take out injuries and shite and I feel confident in an Ole Miss W, especially being in Oxford.

Taking everything else into consideration, it will be tight. I just really don't trust State. Prescott got off to a hot start and has cooled big time. He's good, but I'm not sure he's good enough to march into Oxford in a big game and win.

Egg bowl will be before the Iron Bowl this year, so they may not know they are playing for a SEC title game birth until later in the night.

Alabama ain't losing again.

State very well could.

Ole Miss really fricked themselves losing to Auburn. They would control their own destiny to win the conference.
