Jesus Christ this.

Earliest memories are when he used to take me to LSU basketball games with my grandfathers season tickets which he had since Pistol Pete was playing

I have always been a "momma's boy" and after my parents split when I was in high school, sports were the only thing that bonded my father and I. I remember watching Bama games with him when I was a kid and the reason I am a huge Bama fan now. Growing up I played basketball and baseball and he coached them until I got to high school, but he attended every game I ever played. After my parents split, it was his fault, I distanced myself but sports kept us in contact.

Our relationship has grown over the past 10 years from sports to life, but I truly believe without sports we may not be in contact today.

My dad is a casual sports fan but will pretend to care about different events because he knows I do.

My dad does not care for sports at all. He will watch an occasional saints game if he happens to be around the rest of my family when one is on, but he avoids sports for the most part.

The dude watches Finding Bigfoot. Seriously.

Yep, Dad is an Oregon alum like myself and he raised me as a Duck fan as a youth.

My favorite moments would be him coaching me when I was 12 in a Cooperstown baseball tournment that we won, bringing me with him to Game 7 of the 2001 World Series, The Rose Bowls and the 2011 BCS NC, despite the loss.

I do rag him a little over his like for Los Angeles teams (he lived there for 10 years and was in denial that OJ was guilty ) but he does always root for the home town Phoenix teams first.

I wish - my dad doesn't know the first thing about sports. He used to take us to Oilers and Astros games, but after I started understanding the game, I quickly realized he didn't know sh*t

my father may have actually pushed me to hard in baseball as a child but not to live vicariously through me or anything but more to try and make sure I reached my full potential. that's why it killed him when I decided to go to LSU instead of playing small town college ball. he is a TCU grad and played ball there, and we definitely
bond over the cowboys and especially the rangers(he's been an usher for the dugout section for 5 years now). we went to the last ranger game at the old Yankee stadium together and went to Cooperstown. man that was a hell of a trip

Georgia football and the Braves to a much lesser extent, but I care about sports as a whole a lot more than he does

Absolutely.

I'd say most of the time I talk to my dad, the conversation is at least 50% Alabama football (or other sports to a lesser extent).

I have a twin brother and while he likes sports a lot and is a huge Bama fan, Bama football has always been my thing with our dad. My twin is more of a fisherman than me. And thats where they bond. We have had season tickets since Tide Pride started, so us three used to go to games all the time.

Last year in Miami was one of my favorite football memories. I attended the 2009 BCS game in Pasadena with a friend, but neither my dad or brother got to go.

Last year I took an extra semester, I got a student ticket, but I was gonna give it to my brother or dad. Luckily I found another student ticket and two tickets for my parents. I was way more excited about my brother and dad getting to go than myself getting to go.

We all were down in Miami. Tailgated together. It was the first championship game my dad had been to after all his years of being a Bama fan. I remember he came walking out of the stadium to our truck, where I had just finished popping a bottle of champagne, took a big swig of the champagne and gave me a big hug. It was awesome.

TL;DR - Yeah. Some of my best memories have been with my dad at Bama games.

Awesome story about your dad at his first champ game.

My dad died 7 weeks ago and I miss talking to him about the Saints and LSU. He never liked going to games but never missed one of my brother or my practices or games in sports. He loved watching us play.

Hope to pass the love into my boys.

Yes. My Dad used to go help my uncle, who worked for Coca Cola manage the coke vendors at Tulane Stadium, so I went and got to run around the stadium before and after games, hanging out by the Saints' bench, getting an armful of Ga Tech tear away jerseys that we had sewn back together. Saints MNF game vs the 74 Steelers, 79 USC game, Baseball Regionals where we sat inside the fence along the left field line and just watching all the games over the years on TV.
When Hartley kicked the FG to get us into the Super Bowl, I immediately broke down in tears thinking how happy he would've been. I miss him, dearly.

I wish. My dad isnt into sports at all. And it is actually kinda annoying to talk to him about them because he doesnt understand a lot of stuff. And he is a pretty bad sport. Always negative and ready to give up if the team he is rooting for starts losing.

I bond with my mom over sports though

Yep. We used to go to all the big high school basketball and football games in town. he still calls me if he thinks a game is worth going to. We used to go to all the state championship games in the Super Dome every year. Last year when me and my brother lived in Dallas we went to the UIL championships instead of driving to New Orleans.

Since me and my siblings are actually grown and making a little money we are trying to start paying him back for all those games he took us to. This year the men on his side of the family went to the LSU-TCU game, about 15 of us total. Then we took him LSU-Florida, which was his first time at Tiger Stadium.

We are doing the mens trip again next yea to see us play Wisconsin.

yes
we've been to many a sporting event, My Aunt worked for the Globe Democrat(RIP), and she would have tickets for every Blues and Cardinal game, and my Dad would take me to as many as he could, he was a Police officer in the SLPD.. My favorite event was:

NHL allstar game in st.louis. We had to send in a post card in hopes of getting selected, we were the last ones picked. Last row, and both of our favorite players:

Me: Mario Lemieux
Dad: Mats Naslund had great games

Mario had 3 goals 3 assists

Naslund had 1 goal 5 assists

And when i say last ones picked, i mean the very last row, up in super bleeders. The old Arena, sucked, and the upper bowl seats were brutal, but it was a great bonding dealio.

We call each other and talk about local sports and CFB. We both are huge CFB fans, and spend the wholes saturday plopped in front watching college football. Been doing it for 30+ years.
