Yeah, big time. My dad worked in sports for a long, long time. Went to the olympics, super bowls, final fours, plus hundreds of SEC football and basketball games as part of his job.

When I was young I started going with him a few times a year to different big events. Got to go to The Masters, a couple Final Fours, a Super Bowl, and an Olympics. Went to a ton of SEC games obviously as well.

Between that and playing different sports with him in the yard and stuff, sports were easily the biggest bond we had when I was a kid.

My mom's also a big sports fan. She was the reason I became a Tennessee fan and Braves fan.

it would have been cool if we had.

my stepdad did take me to see the Saints play at least once year starting all the way back to when I was nine years old.

thought that was pretty cool of him because he doesn't even like Pro Football.

however, I don't like Alabama Football because of him.

As a kid...no. He was a roughneck and had no time to play any sports or watch them with me. We were very poor and he commuted to the marshes to work. I played baseball from Little League through college. He never saw me play ball. It didn't bother me.

But as he aged he took up golf and we had a wonderful time playing together until he died.

my Dad is pretty much the same.

he'll watch and follow and talk about LSU football. And he picks random white basketball players he like and follows them (dirk, steve nash, steve kerr, pistol pete)

but other than that, my mom is way more into sports. Dad is more of a outside type of person, yet was a solid athlete when he was younger.

My Dad got me into sports. Always took me to football, baseball and hockey games growing up.

As I got older though, he stopped wanting to go and now only occasionally watches a full football game without losing interest. He couldn't even remember Mettenberger's position half the time the last couple of years. Don't know what happened, but it kind of sucks.

My dad is 67 and I am 49 and we talk sports everyday. He loves college football and college basketball. Even still keeps up with recruiting and he doesn't own a cell phone or computer.

When I was young my dad would check me out of school and take me to see the Cardinals and Cubs whenever the Cards were in town at least once a year(we lived in the burbs of Chicago till I was 11). When I became able I started taking him to St.Louis every year to see a couple of games, and wouldn't let him spend a dime. My dad passed in 2009, and I haven't been to a game since. What I wouldn't give for one more trip.

My parents are completely sports illiterate which makes it difficult to connect since sports have been (and continue to be) a huge part of my release.

My parents are both homebodies who watch a lot of movies/TV so that becomes pretty much the only thing we can connect on.

Yup, some of my best memories with my Dad are watching sports. He's an Aggie as well, so attending the same school gives us a connection on that level, as well. In fact, I'm an Aggie because of him, and a Dallas Cowboys fan because of him.

Only things we've ever disagreed on in sports are favorite NBA team (he's a laker fan--was a big fan of Magic and the Showtime Lakers, while I root for the Spurs--that's where my family was most often stationed with the military and we were there for the franchise's first title in '99) and favorite tertiary sport. He's a big boxing fan and idolized Muhammad Ali growing up. To this day he collects Ali DVDs, documentaries, and TV specials. I'm not a big boxing fan, but I love NASCAR. Been a fan of the sport since I was 9 (I'm 25 now).

Biggest bond was always over Aggie football, though. First time I ever saw my Dad cry was the "Bonfire Game" when A&M beat texas. First person I called after A&M beat Bama last year was my Dad and I can't remember the last time I'd heard him that excited. If A&M ever wins a national title, I hope I get to share that experience with him.

My dad took me to my first cowboys game, stars game, and rangers game. The ranger game was the first game in the ballpark in Arlington, and is one of my earliest memories. He also coached my soccer teams before I got to the older teams, and he never missed a game or track meet. I don't think we have necessarily bonded over sports, but it's a huge part of our lives. And at 61 he can still keep up with my 23 years old arse in driveway basketball with his catlike reflexes
