That's just false. Harden went into a shooting slump shortly before the playoffs.
If you watched the games, he was missing wide open shots he usually drains.

If y'all remember, two years ago the Rockets got a lot of love nationally. The talk was how young they are, how bright the future is, how good Harden is and could be, and how brilliant the GM is.
The national media was saying how perfect Dwight would be with the fun to watch, run-and-gun Rockets. They said it was the best option if he wants to win a title.
People liked this young team because they weren't a real threat.
Then they got Dwight and instantly became a serious team in the West. Rockets fans celebrated and dreamt about a title and other fans didn't like it. They hated Dwight, and now they hated the Rockets because they landed the big fish and thought they are now contenders.
Instantly, the national narrative changed from fun team with a bright future to a disliked team who talks of a title without having yet paid any dues.

IDGAF about nationally, but I know on this board the hate goes back about 8-9 years.

Seriously, Pistons fan?
I'm not bragging about their current state every two seconds, either.
They did win it all about a decade ago

As someone who watched every game, I will concede that sometimes Harden complains too much. But what people don't realize is that he really is fouled the overwhelming majority of the time he is at the line. His quickness Euro step is just impossible to defend, so players fouls him, and he extends the ball out in the lane, and players can't help slap the shite out of him trying to grab the ball.
The fact is that if more NBA players could do what he does, they would.
The James Harden I saw during Team USA basketball over the summer was a blast. I really enjoyed watching him as the lead ball handler with that talent around him.
The fact that he embellishes contact is undeniable though. He throws his head back just like Manu and CP3 anytime questionable contact is created. I truly understand how it wouldn't annoy you, as I didn't find CP3 annoying when he did it here. Like I said, I don't really dislike him.

Thanks to Josh for helping the Rockets win the toughest division in NBA history.

They replaced him with Reggie Jackson and still had a 10 game losing streak in there.

Josh Smith was absolutely critical in helping the Rockets get through the two months that Dwight missed.
