you ever tear your ACL?

I've never seen a torn meniscus being a season ending type of injury.

Maybe I'm missing something.

Depends on the tear.

someone earlier said they have to completely re-attach it.

That's a whole different ball game.

There's a couple things going on here.

1) As others have pointed out, the Bulls/Rose went with a surgery that takes more rehab time.

2) Bulls/Rose PR went with a really long stated rehab time so that they won't have to go through the PR disaster that was last season.

Penny was actuall still good after he came back imo. But he never really got another shot.

But that's a different thread.

I don't, so explain it since you seem to know it all. What is the difference between this injury and the difference between an injury to Ron Artest (MWP) in which he returned in two weeks.

Yep. Much longer rehab that usually has a non weight bearing aspect to it in the beginning. Apparently a bad tear that required a full repair.

I know Derrick won MVP and you're not really comparing the two players, but I'd take prime Penny Hardaway over nearly every point guard in the game today.

I've said like 5 times it just depends on the tear. I had a bad tear in college that had me out for a long time. I had surgery too.

eta I also was a strength and conditioning coach for a while and saw guys bounce back completely different than others

Penny in his prime was the best basketball player I've ever seen outside of MJ.

There's a quote from MJ about Penny that sums it up nicely. I'll look for it.

eta *could have been the best basketball player I've ever seen..outside of MJ*

I don't know what was going on with last year. I thought if the man wanted to sit out because he didn't feel healthy, then it's his career, and I don't blame him.

My comments were directed more towards the people assuming a mensicus should just be a short term injury.

How old are you? Not trying to insult by asking that either. People forget how amazing Penny was in his early years pre-injury. It was very short-lived, but he was a baller.

here's a pretty good article
