the big market teams aren't really saddled that much by shite contracts. I do prefer to build from a farm system but I like some spending as well when needed.

I just can't wait to see Harper hit free agency. That will truly be unprecedented.

$31,000,000 a year for a guy who plays one out of five games during his age 30-37 seasons. LOLasfrick.

Yeah, it's retarded.

He hasn't been good in the postseason, either.

It's unquestionably a terrible contract.

However, at the same time, I would still be excited if it was my team. That's just how baseball is right now.

Dude is gonna make $1M per start.

Definitely. It's not a good contract at all, but it filled a big hole for them. They really need an ace bad. They could go a nice run over the next few years.

Read that the contract is heavily front loaded with a player option after three years. Love that if true. We needed an ace in the worse way and weren't going to win shite without one. I like this signing way more that fricking Rick Porcello getting 120 mill

O/U Price makes more than $2 Million per start by the time the deal is over.

That would be roughly 108 starts in 7 years.

I guess Dombrowski has free reign to spend as much money as possible.

Interesting. Nightengale tweets that STL finished as runner ups for Price

Toronto never made an offer (prob knew they weren't gonna get close to what others would pay)

The Beauty of it all is we have like a top 3 farm system. I love this deal.

Also baseball contracts are about to go up a lot. Friend told me today that 30mill a year is the equivalent to 23 a year in 2009.

Oh, for sure.

You know he's inevitably going to get hurt.

They'll be pressure on him to not suck in the playoffs for once.

His playoff sample size is still relatively small. Something like 66 ip out do the 1000+ for his career. Plus hell have a much better team behind him in Boston than he did in Detroit or Tampa.

I fricking love the MLB winter meetings

Especially now that Houston is relevant. Makes up for LSU athletics being consumed with aids
