Hinch said on Astroline that he will probably keep George #1 and thinks he will get more RBI opportunities this year since our 5/6-9 isn't going to be garbage this season.

1st thought: wtf Dallas

2nd thought: hopefully now that he's healthy he can get back to 2014-2015 Keuchel

Athletes make me want to bang my head against a wall sometimes. You are not helping the team if you are at 50-75%, you are hindering the team. Their drive and commitment to compete just never turns off though and I get that.

I call BS on this whole statement by Keuchel. He's posturing for Arbitration money.

I just don't think a true professional would hide something like this almost the entire seasons... especially when he sucked so much arse like he did throughout the year.

I truly hope that I am wrong and he bounces back to anything close to what he was prior to last season.

I think he was pitching hurt the whole time, because his consistency dropped off dramatically. It never seemed serious enough not to "pitch through" so he only made things worse. Meanwhile, Hinch left him in too long in games where he was pitching well.

Dallas pitched over 240 innings the year before. It took its toll.

I believe him for the most part. Between velocity issues and mediocre location, something was off and I'm not sure what it was. Also don't know when it happened, he didn't give up a run in spring training but struggled from the start of 2016.

I hope you guys are right. I really do. But I just think his injury was between his ears... not in his shoulder.

You guys think there's any chance that Devenski could be a starter this year, or will he be in the same role as last year?

Already been discussed, but it's a big thread. Yes, he's going to be a starter. Feliz will be in the pen ready to eat innings.

They're going to stretch him out in spring training and decide before the season if he'll be a starter

Very slim chance he will be a regular starter. They will stretch him out, but I would expect him to be the long man out the bp.

Except, the Astros’ current top three are all pretty good, and it’s not super clear that bumping any of them to a potential fourth-starter role — and thus, the guy who makes just one start in a playoff series — would be an upgrade worth the acquisition cost.

So the Astros have rotation depth, and if everyone’s healthy, their top-three starters are all pretty good, so acquiring Quintana would potentially push a valuable arm into a less valuable postseason role.

Silly argument, imo. The article's pov is that if Jabroni gets his 2016 Babip down to his career average, then he is an above average #3 for a contending team. So if we acquired Quintana and have 4 above average starters, one of those would be left out during the postseason since he wouldn't be making many playoff starts. So it may not be worth upgrading our rotation now through a trade...

The article does a great job of completely ignoring one "minor" detail....the 162 games we have to play before the playoffs.

Give me your starting rotation. I would put a ban bet on him getting less than 10 starts this year.

Well hot damn it's been a quiet past week or 2. Hope once college fball is over things will turn into baseball mode

Came across this tweet from Jim Bowden earlier today and thought some may find it interesting:

Here is the rest of the Jim Bowden blurb
quote:

Cleveland, Texas, Houston, Oakland and Toronto have all made offers to Edwin Encarnacion according to club sources of each of those teams. Negotiations are continuing at a rapid pace for two of the teams as he is clearly recognized as an impact bat and a difference maker especially for pennant contenders. All offers have been multi-year offers and a few have included an opt out year after year one
Would be pretty awesome if the Astros are one of the teams offering the one year opt out to really give this lineup some more juice.

ESPN scrolled last night that he wasn't re-signing with Toronto.

Toronto has pretty much filled his spot with Morales and Steve Pearce. I'm sure they would get back in if it really went low enough but that's not going to happen
