DAT 7/29 : Angels, Trades and So Much More

Morning gentleman. Not many trade rumors this morning. The calm before the storm? We've got two games to at least take the series. Young McCullers takes the mound tonight looking to give Scotty Kaz a chance to sweep in his first home start tomorrow.

Good thing you started the thread. I think Chicken was about to take things into his own hands.

Last time chicken posted in a DAT we lost. If we lose tonight he's banned from entering this establishment.

If he had started the DAT and broken the rules we would be taking our DAT talents to TCB or clutch fans or some shite

A deal will happen. Which and when is the question.

I think it's going to cost too much. I'd prefer Ross to shore up that 3rd spot in the rotation or Cashner that'll bump Kazmir to 3. Those 2 are excellent options and cheaper. Monetary and prospect wise....
Yeah and that might be the case, I don't think the trade clause will block him from coming here though. I def don't want to give up Phillips and Reed. I would be fine with giving up Reed on his own along with other lesser guys and maybe okay with Phillips if there isn't much value elsewhere in the deal, but not both.
Because of what came out earlier about Phillips and how our organization values him I would think they would make Philly pick up much more of Hamels deal if he's going to be included
I am closer to believe they're looking at Reed, unfortunately. Phillies have been quoted saying they want a power bat.
Now, if they feel as if Tyler White is capable of hitting in the big leagues, then I'm approaching being ok with Reed being shipped. But not both. Hamels is an ace. Hes playing for a team that sucks and when you're playing for nothing, your urgency is bottomed out.
Competitiveness and performance is spiked when you're injected into a pennant race.

The question is, how attached are they to their former prospects? The Phils may like the idea of getting Singleton and Santana back. Both are certainly power bats who need big league time now to develop.
As for what Kerfeld may have been scouting in Corpus, it's possible they were also looking at Hernandez and Kemmer as additional pieces.
We all assume Appel or VV is the pitching headliner.

Gattis in left field gives me heartburn. I like him as a DH or maybe 1B but seeing him in LF reminds me of...Carlos Lee.

Cmon man... Don't alienate us Pels

Yeah I like Reed but he's not someone who should be off limits. Hamels is an elite arm and gives us easily the best rotation in the AL this year IMO

The fact VV was moved to the pen a week ago and still hasn't appeared in a game makes me think he is involved in all trade negotiations. He hasn't pitched in 8 days & counting. Seems like they could be holding him back to prevent any fluke injury/blow up that could screw up trade talks. The Phils held off on throwing Papelebon and are pushing back Cole's next start for the same reason.

DAT Poll of the Day:
If the Astros must trade a top arm to make a big deadline deal, who would you rather keep?
a) Appel
b) Velasquez

I think the landslide answer will be Vincent
I would keep him
I would keep him

Damn... Tough question. Good poll.
I'd keep Appel. Only because I think he can be used as a trade chip later. VV is probably as high a value as it will go right now.
