Seems like he is saying the 1B solution will have to come from in-house for this season, even if they aren't ready to roll with Reed.

That's fine because I can see Duffy or White getting a chance in a platoon at first where Lowrie plays 1B against RHP and plays 3B versus LHP (in place of Valbuena).

Agreed. I said yesterday I'm not sure that we're only a couple of trades away from getting to or winning the word series. What we've done has been great but we've done it despite some pretty glaring holes offensively. That in mind is this the year we want to use our most tradeable assets to get a rental like Cueto or Shark? Does that put us over the top?I don't think so. We need to bide our time with trading top prospects. If there's no doubt were a world series contender and we're a trade away. Go for it. I don't see this as the year we burn those assets

Exactly. And that's why I say not to trade too much off this season. I don't think they have the team to make it THAT far this year because there are glaring holes. This is NOT the year for them and you won't convince me otherwise.

What I am convinced of is that the best is yet to come and we have alot of winning baseball ahead of us and we will have better rosters each year moving forward.

And for those suggesting Tucker see time at 1B, he shot that down.

Praised our catching and hinted that Heineman or Stassi will be up soon.

I always wondered why there hasn't been any hype on White. Kid hasnt had less than a .400 OBP at any level in the minors yet and shows decent pop. He even walks more than Ks. Is the scouting on him that his defense sucks? Plus he has a sweet arse moustache...that has to count for something.

I hope they reconsider on Tucker after the season.

Who in the AL scares you so much giving you the idea that we wouldn't be able to compete in a playoff series?

We don't score enough runs, bottom line. And outside of Keuchel, and LMJ who may not even be around during the postseason, who do we have to turn to? There are entirely too many positions of need, and to fill the majority of them we would be mortgaging the future for maybe 1 playoff series win.

Last thing I want is to sell the farm and put it all on this year...I don't think anybody is asking for that. But with a trade or 2 made I don't see how Astros fans wouldn't be atleast a little optimistic about postseason success

Come playoff time...

Springer
Altuve
Correa
Gattis
Lowrie
Tucker
3rd outfielder in Rasmus/Marisnick
Black hole at 1B
Black hole at C when it's Castro

So that's 2 1/2 black holes (I'll consider 3rd outfielder half of one) which is way better than what we've had recently. And that's all based on not acquiring any positional player or calling up someone who makes an impact

Then you got Keuchel, LMJ, acquired trade, McHugh for playoff series

Not the most dominant by any means but what rotation out of serious contenders in the AL is truly elite? Royals aren't and they are the big favorites right now. Angels, Yankees, Twins, Orioles, Blue Jays all have talent but nothing overwhelming

All I'm saying is that I completely understand all the flaws our team has, trust me. But looking at the rest of the AL I don't see anybody who I wouldn't give us a chance against. Now if we were in the NL that's a different story with STL, Pitt, Washington, LA...

Because when your catcher is struggling to stay above .200, you turn to a catcher hitting .185 at AAA.

Guys let's just stand pat and wait for the real prospects to mature. This isn't our year and either is next year or the next. 2018 is OUR year. Be patient.

Joe Musgrove left his start tonight after throwing 25 pitches over two innings.

Haven't heard if he got injured or "what".

He was on a pitch count. Eased him back.

This was his first start coming off the DL. It was planned for him to go two innings.

With a healthy Springer and Lowrie we can beat the Royals, Yankees, and Angels in a series. I'm not saying we would be favored but we all know this roster as currently constructed could compete with and beat all of the division leaders right now. Yes we are ahead of schedule and no we should not sell the farm for one year, but we have built up organizational depth and have logjams of prospects at a couple of different positions. The way this season has played out with a weaker AL and us being ahead of schedule we should absolutely take a chance of moving some of those prospects for a player that gives us a better chance to win this year, as well as the next at minimum.

Whoa...

Dombrowski wants to put Price and Cespedes on the trade block.

With Miggy out and 10 games back, they might be throwing in the towel on this season

Can you guys explain something?

I just saw that Alex Bregman went 3-5. 1BB today and is now hitting around .285.

How is this possible when he clearly sucks and is another Jeff Luhnow wasted pick???

Yep... Just a little more to turn this sellers market into a buyers market.

Wondering if Ausmus is on the hot seat?
