Edwin Jackson is close to one of the worst SPs in the MLB. Pretty sure he's the only one that wears a du-rag on the mound

That's not even close to true.

Now with that said, he's not been good for us, but c'mon. (well it might be closer to true than i initially thought, for last year, after looking up some stats, guess it's the optimist in me that thinks he'll be average)

He was terrible with the Nationals. When Theo gave him that contract I literally said WTF are we doing

Not sure if you actually know what terrible is.

4.03 ERA with WSH, threw nearly 200IP with 8.0 K/9

4th & 5th quality starter stuff

at one point he was an all star

and johnny cueto wears a do rag

I really like Ruggiano. He has nice pop and he had that great month long stretch of hitting in 2012. Maybe we will see more of that. I want him to start everyday.

Since this is likely the only time of the year that we're not realistically/statistically eliminated from contention seems as good of time as any for a thread.

Pulling for Olt.
Thing that struck me watching them play the Reds Saturday...at least the lineup my Cubbies had in that day looked like another of the slow-footed, plodding free swinging Cub teams I've seen far too much of in my lifetime.

And Mr. Jackson and his new changeup looked like the same ole pitcher to me.

Another long season I'm afraid. Still can't wait to get to Wrigley in June, but it would be alot sweeter if we had a chance.

The frick?

He was 51st in WAR for pitchers, 58th in ERA, 36th in FIP, 29th in K/9.

He was even better the season before: 38th in ERA and 28th in WAR.

He got overpaid, but if he was terrible than over half the pitchers in the majors are terrible.

Olt reminds me of Mike Napoli a bit. Dude looked strong during spring training and you can tell he has a legit power stroke.

He needs to be the full time 3B.

If Olt can hang around the big team all year and Rizzo and Castro bounce back I will be happy. Must avoid 95 losses too.

It's been so hard to watch baseball the past few years with how bad they've been. Love the way they are rebuilding, but hard to watch.

Baez will either be a SS or 2B. Theo said that he will be playing some 2B some. The only reason he didnt more in ST was because Castro was hurt.v Castro has said he doesn't mind switching to 2B either, so there's that.

I think Olt stays at third, Bryant to the OF, and Christian get traded w/ Smarj or something during trade deadline

Cause we have garbage at 2b now. Somebody goes to 3b if olt fails, Bryant moves to Rf and Alcantara kills it.

Not everything has to be so. Its a good thing to have logjams - the Cubs have never really had this issue until now.

Also, I think Valbuena gets more PT at 2nd now that Olt is here. A couple teams interested in
Barney.

Who are the teams still interested in barney. Tigers seemed like the only real suitor because the have an offense that allows you to have a good defensive player who offers nothing at the plate, but they filled that need recently.

Tigers haven't filled squat, Gonzales can't hit and that kid they picked up from Angels is more a utility players. I think the Tigers sign Drew at some point still.

Oh and Rangers were scouting Barney as well

So after trading for Romine you think the tigers are still interested in a light hitting (which is generous) middle infielder they can put at short?

I think barney to the tigers ship sailed with that move. I'll be shocked if the cubs aren't stuck with him until the deadline.

No I think Tigers sign Drew over anything.
Gonzales I don't even think of as a temporary fix and he has first shot at starting followed by Romine. Romine and Barney are basically same player, low OBP, low average, decent/above average fielder

Right. I didn't mean filled their need with what's best only that they were one of the teams scouting barney and, a better way to say it would be, made a move that basically kills any chance they'd still move on barney.

Any chance drew doesn't get signed until after Draft day?
