That is not a misconception. Miami got fricked on that call.

George Brett used too much pine tar.

For a while I never realized the Royals appealed and won that appeal and the home run actually ended up counting.

legendary steal is a pretty laughable description of what happened but yeah the rest of your point is fine

"legendary" or whatever term one wants to call it the steal by Worthy of the Fred Brown pass was THE STORY of the 1982 NCAA Finals immediately following & for years after.

Larger mental error than the Chris Webber's "TO" or " timeout" in 93.

The Fred Brown turnover to Worthy is perhaps only the 2nd worst / most memorable clutch turnover in NCAA history.

I admit had it been Ewing perhaps making that pass instead of Brown......

Or Had it not been a rookie 3rd option( Jordan) with 12 pts . making the go ahead bucket that it would have endured .

Name me a larger clutch NCAA turnover besides Webber?

Who hit the go ahead basket over Michigan in 1993?

No one remembers because Webber's turnover was the story just as Worthy's steal was the story for years until Jordan's superstardom.

Worthy was the man & his steal of the Brown error was the story THEN.

Name me a larger turnover/ error / steal in NCAA Finals history outside of the steal of Fred Brown( besides Webber)?

Maybe legendary " gift" to Worthy than steal( technically) perhaps is what you're getting at?

Maybe the semantics of " steal" or " gift" is understandable ,but no one can dispute that it was THE STORY of that game for years & no larger clutch moment / error in NCAA Finals history( outside Webber).

Although Fred Brown never made it to the NBA there are still stories about him, he's still interviewed about it & will be stories written about it upon his death.

Browns epilogue will be that pass.

I think Brown is glad Jordan's superstardom & revisionism overshadowed his mistake to a degree.

Even better, that home run didn't even win the series. Roy Oswalt and the Astros shut down old Busch to win the NLCS the very next game.

Was coming to post this. I've actually had Cardinals fans try to throw this moment in my face and have had to remind them of that. Greatest fans my arse

If we're going that route, the game should have never made it to OT in the first place. And even then, the game was decided in the second OT.

This is why absolutely nobody likes you, Ohio State.

Something people forget and that dumbass commentators don't realize is that the patriots sent in more CBs that very play expecting pass. Serious FB people know that you have to pass there.
Serious football fans would also know that the Patriots had one of the worst goal line and short yardage defenses against the run last year.

When they replayed the game weeks later, Billy Martin had his players appeal each base to ensure Brett had touched each base. Since it was different umpire crew, they all had signed letters of affidavit from the original crew in their pocket.

Ron Guidry would fulfill his dream of playing center field for the Yankees. While Don Mattingly became the first left hander to play 2b(might have been ss) for the Yankees in 100+ years.

To show just how big of a misconception it is, I have three downvotes and one upvote for my earlier post that the Miracle on Ice wasn't the semifinals. Pretty funny given the Soviets won silver (as I said in a later post) AND actually would have still won the gold despite the MOI loss, had the Americans lost their last game against Finland.

Yes. Do you find some wrong with it? I was refuting Mizzou's statement that they were down by 4, which supports your statement that they were down by 3.
