Yea Miller would be a great pickup here at LSU. Nothing is guaranteed in our current system. I am being realistic and really don't see him coming here anyways. So lets say Miller comes here and plays all year long then on to next year we are back at square one. He's very good so why doesn't he stay at OSU and get his job back? Yea I agree anything is an upgrade from what we currently have at QB. People on here are excited about Golson.

There would be drawbacks to getting either Miller or Golson. It would be, at best, a one year fix. And I don't think there's any way Harris sticks around.

I don't like the message that accepting a transfer says to your recruits. I'd rather see Brandon Harris start all year even if he has to take his lumps. If AJ is the starter though, I might reconsider.

but with Harris having another year and possibly a better leader to be behind?

How in the hell can you say he would not start at Ohio State? Do you coach there? Are you Ms. Cleo? Facts? Anything?

Thank you that's my point exactly. Everyone who is high on Harris and says he needs time to develop will be the first ones bitching when Harris transfers out of here. There are consequences bring in a one and done when nothing is guaranteed in our current offense. The only thing that is a certain is LF will be the major part of our offense going forward. You really think Miller will come here to hand the ball off and only throw it 15 times a game? I see him going to a school like Oregon where the QB is showcased alot more.

Why not? If he transferred to another FBS school he'd sit for a year...same as if he stayed and Miller got the start.

I was just answering the OP. QBs who lose their starting job with a year of eligibility left are generally few and far between
and even rarer when they're allowed to transfer for a year with no penalty.

Mett was here for more than one year. How can anyone say Harris sitting on the bench one more year will make him a better QB. How did this concept work for Jennings? So 2 years for Harris sitting on the bench and then he becomes a starter the following year, probably not. Only way to get better is to play and Harris wont play if we get a one and done QB here. There were numerous times over the past year Harris could have played more and was not put out there. 2 years ago the same can be said for Jennings not hardly playing when Mett was here.

I don't think Harris would transfer. Wouldn't he have to sit out a year if he went to another FBS school?

both Golston and/or Miller would be 1 and done. Harris would still have 2 years of starting potential.

but yeah, I think Miller is waiting on Mariotas decision. If Mariota is gone, Miller will be at Oregon next year.

This is what I'm wondering too.

Miller is a better passer than Jones right now, and he put up numbers similar to Barrett, who also suffered a season ending injury.

I'm not understanding why anyone believes the depth chart is set at OSU.

Incorrect.
He would still have 3 years of starting POTENTIAL.

Exactly. If Jennings is not the starter next season and either Harris or a transfer plays ahead of him day 1 we can easily opine that Harris' lack of playing time this past season hurt him. No reason for Harris not to get several drives in several games. The way our playcalling went, he would have handed the ball off 70% of the time anyway.

I do see your point, in bringing a QB who is afraid of competition, could scare off Harris and/or other recruits/QBs on the roster and could create a chilling effect for "free agent" QBs. I consider Mett to be different coming from the JUCO ranks.

Because all indications are, he's not overly enamored with the situation as is.

I'm interested in why you would think that If somebody comes in and is handed the starting job after Harris has been told he'd have a chance to compete, he WOULDN'T leave?

because he would still have to sit a year if he transferred...

Let me see if I have this. Don't offer a one year scholarship to a player who has proven he is Heisman caliber, who only lost his job because he got hurt, and probably won't be given the opportunity to get it back because both J.T. Barrett and Cardale Jones have several years of eligibility left (and Miller would have only one). Don't do this because it might tempt our current back-up QB to consider transferring; a backup QB who has been rumored to have awful work habits; and played one of the worst games I've ever seen a QB play in his one start against Auburn. Seriously?

Miller lost his job due to injury not because of his play on the field. You can't blame him for wanting to transfer, he wouldn't stand a chance getting a fair shake at getting his job back. CUM would be a fool to let him have the job back. He has one year left, his competition has 3 years left. If they're even or If Miller was slightly ahead coming out of spring practice the job would go to jones.
