re: Colin Cowherd says Mayweather vs McGregor will happen

Let's just say this does happen. Connor will come out swinging for 5 rounds. If he gets a hold of Mayweather he has the pop to win. That's a big if. Mayweather is still ridiculously fast despite his age plus he boxes to get the decision rather than the knockout. So he is gonna score easy hits on Connor that probably won't phase him too much but will be counted by judges.
After round 5 is McGregor has not knocked Mayweather out then Mayweather will likely cruise to victory by endurance alone.

he is an elite level striker period. almost every one of his fights has ended in tko or knockout.
So what? Against whom?
He's not striking against Pro Boxers.
I've watched enough MMA to see these guys strike and it seems like purely MMA swings...with wild misses and not really boxing...because his opponent is also MMA and doesn't know how to really box as a pro does.
Granted they are fantastic at other things...but boxing isn't a street fight. The disciplined art of the sweet science takes a long-time to be even decent.
Shite, I've never seen an MMA guy who looked remotely like a Pro Boxer...at any level of Pro Boxing. That's like saying years ago Chuck Liddell could fight some top 100 boxer. He'd get crushed. Jab, Jab, Jab, Jab, Jab...connect every time...any boxer could just jab McGregor to death...boom, chin, boom, nose, boom, boom, snap to the eye, right cross...down.
The boxing ring isn't the street...you can't tackle a real boxer in the ring.

said he had a punchers chance and his only shot would be to use his size and power to brawl with floyd early
He has zero chance of winning. Zero. McGregor has a good sraight left. That is it. It will take Floyd exactly 5 seconds in training to figure out how to defend against it. McGregor would not be able to hit Floyd with anything. Floyd could basically pick from a number of punches to knock McGregor out. Complete mismatch. There is a reason why great boxers make so much more money than MMA fighters. Because they are the best at boxing and it takes 20 years of training and 50 fights (amateur and pro) boxing to be on the elite level. McGregor would not beat any boxer currently ranked in his weight division that is in the top 25. Zero, and he would lose badly in all of those fights. Honestly, the first time McGregor spares with a pure boxer he would back out of this Floyd fight because he will see he is out of his league.
In MMA, if Floyd fought McGregor the fight would be over as soon as Floyd was taken to the ground.
In boxing, if Floyd fought McGregor the fight would be over as soon as the bell rings to start round 1.

Nobody would hold a loss against him. It's not like he's boxing a chump.

Who wants to see Floyd dance around an octogon?

Wouldn't be no dancing in the octogon.
Takedown, mount, beat until bloody.

I don't understand how people are acting like McGregor would have any chance whatsoever in a boxing match with Floyd Mayweather. A big part of his winning strategy would seemingly be hoping Floyd breaks both hands pounding the shite out of Conor's face. Mayweather would probably have a better chance winning an mma fight between the two. Boxing isn't 'Nam, there are rules.

That is debatable. Cowherd just spews out as many theories that he can and waits to see what sticks.

We're talking about a boxing match.
Of which some have watched since the early 80's. Maybe you just grew up on MMA and think its an equivalent of boxing.
:doubtfull:

All this MMA you've watched and you've never seen one guy that looks remotely like a pro boxer, on any level.
Ok, bud.

Yes...because who is he striking?
Do you see movement at that boxing level?
Your view is skewed because you are watching the same vs. the same.
You're not watching a McGregor vs. a real boxer in any MMA match.
You're watching the lower-level striking competition vs. lower level striking competion. Looks awesome, eh?

MMA is a unique sport and maybe the ultimate sport in physical contact because you can do most things - but not everything.
But boxing is a real skill, talent and science.
No MMA guy is a real professional boxer.
They can strike like an MMA guy, kick, take-down, etc.
They aren't boxers.
If the fight was boxing - no MMA guy would last a round with a top 100 fighter.
They're not boxers, period. I don't care how great an athlete they are. They have trained for multiple disciplines and are great at that...
But striking is not boxing. Street fighting is not boxing. I doubt any of them have any clue how to box because they don't train for that because that's not how MMA works. They train to slug and strike...and then ground and pound.
Stand-up fights in MMA are pathetic, that's not close to the skill in boxing.
If anyone thinks MMA stand-up fighting is like boxing then, you have no idea how slow and pathetic these guys "punches" - strikes are.

What I'm gathering is that you don't know what the frick you're talking about here. "They don't have a clue how to box." Either you're just plain ole ignorant or trolling. Either way, not going to waste any more time on you.
You can research the MMA fighters with professional boxing records on your own time.
Have a good night.

In MMA you get a truer fight than boxing in regards to striking. You don't have a ref to constantly separate you to the perfect distance and you don't have gigantic gloves to help protect you. It's much easier to defend in boxing when you only have to worry about punches. There are no elbows, knees, or kicks to have to watch out for. It's also nice to have your lead leg forward and not worry about someone kicking it and taking all your power and movement away. Yes in boxing you will see incredible hands, but in a true fight a boxers striking will look much much worse.
