I could entertain the possibility of McGregor somehow getting lucky and catching him with 4oz gloves. Not boxing gloves.

I dont think it is likely that he wins but he definitely has a shot if he can connect with floyd.

He has no shot and he won't connect with Mayweather. It's a average boxer going up against one of the best boxers ever in a boxing match. Not enough size difference for that to be a factor.

Now if it was someone like Vitor Belfort, who would enjoy a large size advantage, then maybe Mayweather's infinitely superior boxing skills would possibly be overcome. (if they allowed Belfort to fight at the higher weight)

Maybe they will set a weight limit of 160 lbs for McGregor and 147 for Mayweather to handicap (or whatever it is called in horseracing) the fight a bit.

probably a 20-25 lb difference. thats pretty significant. he also isnt going to have the huge reach advantage like he normally does.

Like I said, I doubt he wins, but I definitely think he has a shot because of his size and knockout power. It will be an interesting match and I hope it happens. will be cool to see boxing vs mma style boxing.

Is he even that? MMA guys are strikers...and spend 80% of their time on other shite.

An average boxer is at least a Pro Boxer and middle of the pack and spent most of his life learning the art of boxing.

An average boxer would outbox McGregor because he's not a real boxer. You're not a boxer because you throw some stand-up strikes in a wrestling match.

Mcgregor is an elite level athlete and would be successful in boxing. You can't teach the size, power, and athleticism he has and if he put his full time into boxing he would do very well. MMA is much more than just ground fighters who can strike some. You have many MMA fighters who were very successful in striking competitions like boxing, karate, muay thai, etc. Two good examples of this are Alistar Overeem and Stephen Thompsan.

I would not even say he is an average boxer. He just got out boxed by Nate freaking Diaz. If McGregor fought an average boxer, who has experience, then McGregor would lose 9 out 10 times. McGregor is really underestimating the high technical skill a boxer has with his defense and offense. This is not something McGregor is going to learn in 12 months.

He has zero shot vs Floyd and could be embarrassed in such a way that McGregor has his own "No Mas" moment.

he is an elite level striker period. almost every one of his fights has ended in tko or knockout. I think it will be interesting to see the contrasting styles of striking in the ring. big thing is the cardio, I think boxers, expecially floyd, have outstanding cardio for a boxing match and there is no way he will be able to go the whole fight striking like he would in a mma fight. he gassed out in rnd 2 against diaz due to taking alot of big swings.

I think his best shot is to come out and brawl with floyd and use his reach. he has nothing to lose because everyone expects him to lose. I think that is his only shot. he isnt going to sit back and pick his shots against floyd.

he didnt get outboxed at all. he destroyed diaz in the first round and gassed out in the 2nd. diaz was able to put a couple of licks on him and finished him on the ground. diaz is a tough arse dude and the bigger man.

If this fight happens, and that's a big if with contract details painfully slow (especially since they are in different sports), then it'll no doubt be a boxing match. Floyd would never fight an MMA fight imo.

Boxing: Floyd wins easily
MMA: McGregor wins easily

McGregor has a better chance of wining a boxing match than Mayweather does of winning an MMA fight - but in either scenario it's a long long shot.

I'd watch it though lol

If they were to get into a fight, they have to handicap McGregor, cause he would KO Mayweather very easily.

If they make it simply a punching match, then Mayweather could win. Only way he has s chance against McGregor.

Well you know what I mean. That's his only chance.

They have to handicap McGregor in order to make it competitive.

How many of these were in boxing matches?

No, No it wouldn't. It would be a complete mismatch. It would be embarrassing for McGregor. Floyd could basically place whatever insane bet he wants on what round he knocks out McGregor and then knock him out precisely when he wants too and collect the big bet winnings. It would be that easy for Floyd.

The arguments you are making for McGregor boxing would be just as ridiculous as me saying that Floyd could beat George st Pierre in his prime in a UFC match. Dude...just stop.

since 2009 mayweather has only had 1 tko and that was against Ortiz who was trying to touch gloves. Floyd would play the fight safe and just pick Conor apart and win a decision in boxing. There's no reason for Floyd to put himself in any danger because Conor can knock him out with one punch. Floyd might get a tko because Conor will probably gas since he's not used to fighting a full boxing match.

Not sure why you are acting like i said he would win. I said he had a punchers chance and his only shot would be to use his size and power to brawl with floyd early because no way he could out point floyd or even last 12 rounds.

Floyd would not even have a shot against connor in a mma fight much less gsp. Connor can knock him out in a boxing match... But it better be quick.
