Smart move would be to stash it and collect a potential centerpiece next season. But I do see the argument of flipping it with Love for a elite player. But who?

So does CLE use the Nets pick to dangle on its own or with Love or whoever to get better for this season?

Or does Dan Gilbert stash it as a backup plan to jumpstart the rebuild if/when Lebron leaves?

It sounds crazy as CLE is the 2nd best team in the league but they're so far away from GS, and with Lebron seemingly already with 1 foot out the door, I'm holding onto that pick if I'm Gilbert.

I think you have to hold onto it unless you get some sort of public commitment from Lebron. Even then I would hesitate until he puts pen to paper. I don't think there's a huge risk of Brooklyn somehow winning 30+ games and hurting the value of it You can always use it the way they used the Wiggins pick if Lebron decides to come back.

With the rumors of Wade coming over the smart move would be to package that pick with shumpert, frye, RJ, and Felder for a big piece. Cavs are in a win now mode.

Terrance Jones for BKN 18 seems fair.

Same thing Madden did when Brett Favre came out of retirement to the Jets. Print out a bunch of slide ins or offer online downloads.

1. Are Shump/Frye/RJ on expiring contracts?

2. If not, who is the "big piece" where that deal is remotely possible?

Frye is, Shumpert and RJ are locked up through 18-19. They would have to deal Love I think if they want to do something with the pick right now.

RJ is like a 2 million dollar contract. If the Nets are as bad as they look on paper that's a pretty legit deal for an unhappy/expiring star. 2018 draft is loaded

Cleveland just got Isaiah Thomas and Jae Crowder plus that pick for an unhappy star

IT4's hip injury is a legit concern
Same injury ended Jonny Flynn's career
But he is worth a one year flyer

I am completely mind blown that Boston made this deal. Cleveland was in disarray, their two stars beefing, and no cap space or pieces to make a big move. It looked like this year would be the end of their run. And Boston just fixed all their problems. Kyrie is better than IT, but if IT is healthy he's not much of a drop off for that role in CLE. And now they have a top pick in a stacked draft that they can use to bring in a 4th all star.

Brooklyn handed Boston a dynasty and Ainge might have just fricked it up.

Indiana got fricking Victor Oladipo & Sabonis. The Kings got a late lotto pick & Buddy Hield. This is the exception not the norm.

The closer the Bagley/Porter/Bomba/Doncic draft gets the greater the value on that pick grows

So to recap the infamous Brooklyn trade

They got Brown and Tatum basically out of it

This trade comes down to what u think the nets pick will be

Chicago
Indiana
Phoneix
Orlando
Atlanta

Imho got the top five on lock. They will all suck a rediclous amount of dick this year. That top pick is Indy's to lose

Then u got the bad teams

New York
La
Brooklyn
Sacramento

Short of pulling a Derrick rose that Brooklyn pick ain't as valuable as people making it out to be. Nj improved. Probably more so than any team other than okc, Denver, Minny and Cleveland and houston

They drafted Allen, they traded for d lo, demare Carroll and Allen Crabbe. They get Lin back and got mozgov....ok lol ok I kid

They ain't close to the worst roster in the league anymore. They will get the 8th pick. That's basically Wendell Carter.

So u give up the ability to draft Carter to be able to keep your best player under contract for two years and add 5 inches and make him 4 years younger while keeping the la pick
